Very happy with them...

I use these headphones to listen to my iPod. I don't know about bass or any of that, but I know what sounds good and these sound good. The only drawback is that the cord is very, VERY long. There's something for you to wind it up on, but it can still be a pain if you're just using it for your iPod since the wound up cord will be bigger than the music player itself.

But, overall, very happy!

Decent audio quality but PAINFUL

First, the positive: the headphones do a great job of blocking out surrounding noise, even though they are not "noise-cancelling," per se. The sound quality could be better (but for the price it's certainly acceptable). The cord is very long, and connects directly to both ears. Also, the headphones are lightweight.

Now, the not-so-positive: if you use these to watch, say, a two-hour movie, you will most likely be in pain afterwards - these headphones can hurt.

The padding over the hard inner surface is nothing more than a thin, taut piece of fabric - meaning that ears are painfully compressed against the inner surface due to the design of the shallow, padded cuffs, which were apparently engineered to comfortably hold only the smallest, flattest of ears. In other words, these would be perfect for a 3-year-old child.

My previous headphones - which were of a higher quality but finally gave out after 3 years of intensive use - had adult-sized, deep padding, and a comfortable cushion over the inner surface as well. With those, you could forget you were even wearing headphones at all after a while. Admittedly, these are a poor replacement.

The lesson: if you need headphones that you can wear for more than, say, a half-hour at a time, I'd recommend that you look elsewhere.

My dad uses these with a digital recording studio to record his own music. When I say the headphones are 5-star, I mean in this price range. Obviously they don't compare with a $200 set of Bose headphones.

That said, the sound quality is pretty good on these and the muffs are big enough to cover the ear and block out some enviromental noise. These are worth every penny paid for them.

Listening for Pleasure

Forget the Ear Buds. For the price these ear phones should get five stars. I gave it four only because I know that for much more money I could get something better. These speakers fit well, provide acceptable outside noise reduction, and provide fine sound. My Sansa MP3 allows me to equalize the sound quality and gives these speakers quality sound. Very pleased with this purchase.
