Hooked on the Classics #1
Found an old tape with this and the quality was poor. Was so happy to find in on a CD. One of my favorites. Up beat classical music.
Wonderful Intro To the Classics
This arrangement includes pieces from some of the greatest classical music ever written, and while the work is definitely underscored from beginning to end by the permeating techno rhythm, I believe the intent of the work was/is to introduce classical music to the ears of an audience who may have never heard it outside of cartoons. In that regard, I think the album has been a stunning success! The ADDED benefit is that the rhythm is perfect for the treadmill :) Since first hearing

, I have "graduated" to more traditional and "serious" classical music, something which may never have happened had I not heard this and loved it.

Great listening!
Had the tape and wore it out playing it so much, so happy to get the CD
Great Intro for Kids
The downside first - the pop beat playing behind the montage of music makes this CD a little dated. But, you ignore it rather quickly.
I had this cassette when I was seven years old and it served as an introduction to major works of classical music. Each song contains a snippet of a work to create a nice little montage. The liner notes contain plenty of references too. So later on, when I was in my classical music phase, I was able to go back to this album, find snippets that I liked, and then go forward and find the full piece.
I bought this CD because my cassette was unplayable. When playing the CD for my two-year-old, I found that he enjoyed it very much. The "pop beat" contributed to him dancing to the songs. His favorite was the Tchaikovsky montage. So, instead of learning his
classics
from cartoons, he can learn more from here.
Please do not let any "snooty" reviews deter you from purchasing this album. The "pop beat" is dated, but it does not ruin the album.
