Not as good as I have experienced
Though i really enjoy this product, i was a bit disappointed that the singing is not as good as I would like. The performance seems forced and none of the singing seem to be coming from professional singers. They might be good actors but their singing is terrible. The movie with Sophia Loren and Peter O'toole has much better singing than this performance.
Great Service - Great Price
One could not ask for any better service and the price for a new CD was better than some used CD listings
Man of La Mancha
I have a love of this Musical, since childhood, and it still does its magic
for all young or old, very emotionally charged.

just slightly disappointed
In 1981, my husband gave me an 8-track that had the entire play spoken words and lyrics for the soundtrack of The Man of La
Mancha
". It was wonderful!. We all know what happened to 8-tracks but I was able to get it transfered onto cassette before machine and 8-track destructed. I was not so fortunate with my cassette. It died before I could afford the technology to dub it onto cd. So imagine my excitement when I saw I could get the cd from Amazon. That was a few years ago and I was very disappointed then to get ONLY the songs, no dialog, not even Sancho singing Don Quixote's 'missive' do Aldonza as she finishes up in the kitchen and sends a dirty dishrag as the token. It was 2 years after my husband gave me that first 8-track before I saw a local production of the play and learned that nothing had been left off that soundtrack. What excitement when I read added tracks in the above description and bought another cd. Yes there is one more track but you still don't hear Don Quixote's battles with the giant Matagoga or the Great Enchanter who turns out to be Sanson Carasco. It was the dialog that led me to read the book so many years ago (a great pleasure). How I wish I didn't have to wait for another theater production to enjoy the whole play again. The record
album
was also no help. If any one out there has the entire play PLEASE comment!!! However the music quality was excellent on this cd.

man Of La Mancha
I had this
album
on vinyl in 1978 and this CD is just as good. No one can do this role as well as Richard Kiley !
Man of La
Mancha
, the show that introduced "The Impossible Dream" to the world (and lounge singers everywhere), was the hit of the
1965
Broadway
season. Richard Kiley is magnificent in his career-defining performance as the deluded wannabe knight Don Quixote. His leading lad Joan Diener sings the role of the kitchen wench Aldonza with just the right balance of dignity and vulgarity. Irving Jacobson turns in a fine comic performance as the Don's faithful squire, Sancho Panza. The score, with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, was revolutionary in its time. The orchestra had no violins--just brass, woodwinds, percussion, and flamenco guitars. Man of La Mancha is one of Broadway's most inspiring musicals and it well deserves its high reputation. --Michael Simmons
