the best game

this it is the best game of syphon filter of date. I wait anxious a title for ps3

A great PS2 game.

Syphon Filter was a great PS1 game. I think there was 3 of them. I was real excited to hear they made one for PS2. My friend had this game a couple years ago and he was addicted to it for a while. I got to play it and ever since it was a game I planned to get and just never picked up. I was looking on amazon for a new game to pass the time (and also on the cheap side) and I saw this game for around $9. Pick up this game!

well, I am not going to say that this is the best game of all time, but I do think that it is great, I haven't played any of the other SF games, but I do get how they work.
this is a title that deserves the greatest hits label it has anyway here's my opinion

THE GOOD:
the character customization is awesome, I can actually play as myself. next the gameplay the controls are reliable, and responsive, I feel that the voices are well picked, and the objectives are generally easy to follow. next goodies, unlockable weapons and accesories make for persistent gaming, and the fact that the bonus missisons ( unlocked by completing a set of mission deadlines) allow the player to take control of the other agents of the I.P.C.A (Gabe logan's organization).

THE BAD:
I am with other reviewers, on the graphics and lighting, you need to see if you want to win, and the fact that alot of accomplishments can only be acheived by playing online makes getting the Rank of commander in chief impossible.

THE EXTRAS:
I feel that the need to restart the mission if you fail an objective, or parameter is more realistic than the "objective resetting continue points" because, If you are spotted by someone and you run around a corner then die, that person isn't going to forget about you, they are still going to raise an alert.

I have beaten this game a few times, and referenced a guide for mission deadlines, so I know how frustrating it can be to try to follow a guide for a level you haven't seen before, but come on people you shouldn't be using a guide for the first time you complete a mission, play through it a few times first, then use a guide to achieve deadlines, plus you don't need to complete every objective in order if you only need one of them.

one more thing, the respawning enemies glitch is useful for improving your ratings, although the combat specialist ratings should happen automatically

overall: If you like how the metal gear games play, you will like this game.

A decent title but still somehow disappointing

I bought this game because I fell in love with the previous 3 Syphon Filter games on the PSOne -- wonderful things were anticipated as the series moved on to the more powerful PS2 console. Despite all the attention to detail and effort that went into making this game fun, it just does not all come together as intended. The graphics and audio are very well done but unfortunately the control and gameplay are a little disappointing. It's just not as fun as I think a Syphon Filter game chould be, and should be. Not to say this game is terrible, it's actually entertaining at times. Just rent it first and decide for yourself.

The game that ended it all...

This game has below-standard graphics for a PS2 engine. However, its not complete junk. The game forces you to play online, which is not a good thing since not everyone has internet or an internet adaptor for the PS2 (unlesss you have the slim model). The controls are adaptable, but for the casual gamer, this title will prove troublesome time and time again... However its an excellent online experience, not like SOCOM but very cool nonetheless...Be warned, this game is only good for Syphon Filter fans (like myself) who want to finish their collection. Its not recommended for the up-and-coming gamer.
