Impressive... Most Impressive

I recently christened my new Kensington Contour Roller on a trip from Madison WI to Baltimore MD. PRE-TRIP: I was impressed with the quality of manufacturing. The case is solidly made; it's also very spacious. I actually was able to load everything that came with my new Dell XPS M1730 Laptop into it. For those of you who don't know, this is a monster computer, a laptop in name only, that comes with an enormous power brick that, if it accidentally fell off a table, could squash a small dog. The case swallowed all this gear and more without even a hiccough. The SnugFit sleeve was ridiculously snug at first, the best analogy being this: have you ever seen pantyhose right out of the package, and wonder how a human being can fit into that? It was that snug. However, the sleeve did stretch quite a bit and finally was able to accommodate the M1730. The mouth of the compartment that holds the SnugFit sleeve does not open very wide, so if you're not careful, the zipper can scratch your laptop's case as you insert and remove it from the sleeve. It would be nice if this compartment opened a bit wider, if the sleeve was just a tad less tight, and if the material that lined the sleeve was a little less scratchy. ON THE ROAD: People have remarked that the telescoping handle seems flimsy, but it was in fact sturdy enough to take some rough handling. The handle is positioned in such a way that the bag rolls close behind you -- so close in fact that I had to be careful not to accidentally kick it (perhaps I just have a long stride). The bag rolls so effortlessly, I tended to keep a light grip on the telescoping handle, which meant that if there was a rut in the road and the wheels caught it, the handle pulled right out of my hand -- not a big deal, just a small caution. Once I held tight to the handle, I found that the bag was very stable, went up and off curbs very easily. Clearing the airport's security checkpoint was easy -- the laptop slid out and back into the stretched-out sleeve with little difficulty. It fit beautifully in the overhead compartment on the plane. Carrying the case on board, I appreciated the novel design of the (non-telescoping) handles, which fit nicely together, making them easy to grip. The contour design also makes the bag easy to carry. The only problem I found was with the shoulder strap. Look at the picture of the bag, and observe that the strap is on the ground. When you're wheeling the bag around, that does indeed seem to be the shoulder strap's favorite place to be, dragging on the ground. No matter how I tried to position the strap so that this wouldn't happen, the strap always managed to get loose and drag happily on the ground, often sliding happily under the case and getting gouged by the case's happy little blue wheels. I finally just took the strap off and stowed it. A clever solution to this problem would be welcome. POST-TRIP: One star off for my gouged strap, but other than that, I like the bag. Its excellent design far outweighs a few little glitches, and at [...] (post rebate) it's a great value. Buy it... you'll like it!

I needed a product with multiple functionality: compartments for cell phone, MP3 player, business cards, pens, calculator, sunglasses, keys, train/airline tickets, water bottle, computer, files, mouse, power cords, billfold/purse, lunch bag. Needed it to be water/snow proof with durable construction and easy rolling wheels. Everything I need goes into this bag without carrying any other bag. This bag is light in weight making it easier to carry. Pricing is also affordable in comparison to other bags that weigh more. It has definately met all of my expectations.

Takes a Lickin'

This roller bag is durable, compact and takes a daily beating the way I drag it around - off curbs, up and down stairs, etc. The wheels haven't started to wobble, the zippers still work great (even though its been exposed to light and heavy rain), and the inside and outside fabric looks as it did when I first pulled it from the shipping box (in fact, the inside material is very cool - looks like retro suitcase lining). The only marginal thing about this bag is the strap. I think you need magical powers to get that sucker off.

I have not had any problems. I know several others who also have this same bag (some for significantly longer than me) and they haven't had any problems either. It has a lot of space for it's size and is easy to use. I have pretty bad back problems which made me get this bag and I'm grateful that I did. I'd recommend it to everyone looking for a low-price but good quality bag.
