Superfast, super challenging workout

Having a vast collection of FIRM workout videos, I found this one to be a refreshing challenge. Most of their videos are based on some core elements which are repeated in nearly all videos, made fresh by re-mixing the sequence, changing the speeds or getting a new instructor. They stick to these basics because they work! Having done many of the workouts, this one is especially time efficient and you will know that you did a workout. I recommend this if you are already physically active or have done other firm workouts. This would not be ideal for anyone who cannot execute a lunge without knee pain, because they do a lot of them and very quickly. If you like to workout hard, but fast, you will love it.

great workout

i just did this workout today and it was fun . it was a little too easy so i need to use heavier weights next time.


Great Workout, even for The Firm novices

I had never tried any Firm products, so this is the first product I tried. I checked it out from the library,and it quickly became my favorite. This video has a ton of variety (each segment lasts about 5 minutes) and at the end of the 40/45 minute workout my entire body was worked. I am not a natural on the step and found the cueing to be very good. They have a separate person that shows the beginner modifications, and I also found that after a month I just used my step at full height and the heavier weights. The only two negatives (and these are very minor) is that each time you start the workout, you have to listen to an intro about wanting better and more shapely thighs... I wish they would just let us press a button and go straight to the start of the workout. The second minor complaint is that they use the heavy weights for areas that you may want to use a lighter weight. I use the 5 lbs and 8 lbs and quickly lower my weights depending on the exercises. I think that with the exception of shoulders, they recommend the heavier weights.

Good intermediate to advance workout.

For a complete review, see "Lovesbooks" review below. She is absolutely correct that the sound mixing on this DVD is terrible. It is extremely difficult to hear Christa Riley. Regardless, the DVD is probably, for the ones issued for the incline box (not for the Transfirmer), the best of the series. Although you do not get your heart rate pumping, there is a nice blend of the exercises as they do seem to flow from one to the other. I have noticed that on the DVDs issued with the Transfirmer, that they are somewhat jerky in their flow. There are not as many compound movements as that on Total Body Shaping with Stephanie Huckabee, so it makes for a great end of the cycle workout. You will need 5-12 pound weights, an incline box or Transfirmer, and some manner in which to stay on the incline when doing the ab work.

A Great One

This is a very challening aerobic weight training workout; it's also lots of fun. Lively, motivating music, and good cueing from the instructor. I did however find the ab section almost impossible to do on the transfirmer, so I had to move to the floor for that one- I still got a good ab workout. Unfortunately, the entire BSS3 series (the Firm Box workouts) overall do a poor job of showing the beginner modifications. Again, on the brighter side, the other systems (the transfirmer and the transformation workouts) do an EXCELLENT job keeping the "beginner" on the screen. Also, in my opinion, the instructor Christa Riley does look a bit too thin...
