Second Puchase

I had a Rio Carbon and liked it very much but I dropped it and the volume control got stuck. It still worked for quite awhile but recently it locked up when turning on and off. I ordered another one to replace it after reviewing the other models available. The unit has a rechargable battery and it cannot be opened but it lasts long enough for me to get in several hour or two workouts before recharging.

The package arrived in about a week and it was wrapped very well for shipping.

I have enjoyed this product for years, downloading books and listening to them while I relax, clean the house, work in the yard, etc. I bought my own earphones because earbuds never stay in my ears. The Rio device works beautifully. It downloads easily and the sound is clear. It bookmarks which is extremely helpful because once in a while I have leaned against something with the Rio in my pocket and suddenly I find my self at the beginning of the book again. No problem; the bookmark feature takes me back to my spot.
The battery cannot be replaced. The first one lasted about 4 years and is now fading, losing power even when not in use, so I recently bought the same model again.

Four Years and Still Going Strong!

I bought my Rio Carbon when they first hit the market about 4 years go. My daughter has been through 3 Creative Zen units, and friends have had multiple Ipods and Sandisk players. My Rio keeps on going. Easy to navigate, easy to understand and use - very straightforward controls. I like the screen display too. The 5 gb of space is adequate for what I want (just music and books). I have 3 books and tons of music on here, and still have space left.

However, I did drop it today from the ledge of the elliptical machine, and the volume wheel is now no longer accessible. Luckily I had it set at the right volume and don't see the need to send it in for repairs. I'm on here though looking to see what current prices are so I can order another one!
