High quality - poor planning

This is a very nice product. The quality and workmanship are obvious when you first pick up this leather case. The magnetic closure on the wrap around front flap is a nice touch. The problems become noticable when you try to put your iPAQ 2755 in the case. Several controls are blocked by parts of the case, most noticably the fingerprint reader. The biometric fingerprint reader was one of the bigest selling points to buying the HP2755 to begin with. I like being able to lock and encrypt my data but be able to get to my data in a snap without having to use the stylus. Having this blocked by this case is a big let down. To use the reader you must partially remove the PDA from the case, scan you finger, then cram it back down into the case. The voice notes button is also mostly obscurred, but fucntionality is not completely impaired. Lastly the window for the screen doesn't quite fit over the screen. It's just the slightest bit off and so the top pixel or so of the screen is covered. This isn't really very noticable, but taken with the other issues seems to show that maybe they didn't have an accurate model to work off of when designing this piece. If you don't use the fingerprint scanner, then this would really still be an excellent case.

Good value, functional design could be better

I am using this case with an IPAQ hx2490. The case is made with quality materials, and should last a long time. The belt clip is very secure.

Compared to other cases, this case is a good value. If you're hesitant about spending $80 or more for a Vaja case, this is a good product.

The cutouts line up well for all the buttons, but it takes some effort to get the iPAQ aligned just right. The quick access buttons at the bottom are covered by a flexible plastic, but are still functional. The case requires occasional readjustment because the screen frame has a tendency to shift just enough to cover a few pixels on the screen.

The case is designed for the cradle, but it wasn't obvious to me how to make that work. Without a case, the iPAQ hx2000 series fits very snugly in the cradle. The tight fit allows safe operation of the iPAQ in the cradle. I had a previous generation iPAQ that I used in the cradle. Over time, that ended up breaking the connector in the iPAQ because the iPAQ would shift a little bit as I tapped and wrote on the screen.

With such a tight fit without the case, the back of the case could get in the way, but the designers created a crease point to allow the bottom inch to fold back when cradled. The product images show an iPAQ in the cradle, but you can't make a solid connection that way. Look closely at the image. You can see the back of the case folded back.

If you look even more closely at the picture, you can also see the cradle's connector underneath the case. The connector is very short. If you can see the connector, you don't have a solid connection. The case has a bit of leather that wraps around the bottom of the iPAQ. The leather is thick enough that it interferes with making a tight fit in the cradle. By applying enough hand pressure, you can make a connection that the computer will recognize, but it won't stay connected when you release your hand.

Fortunately, the U-shaped piece of the cradle can be removed. There are a couple squeeze points under the cradle that release the U-shaped portion of the cradle. With this piece removed, the connection is easily made. I would not recommend using the iPAQ while in the cradle without the U-shaped connector.

Despite these issues, I think the case is a good value.
