A Must for the Martial Artist

Obata Sensei's emphasis on footwork is legendary, and this DVD shows you just how many different drills and katas are possible within the framwork of aikido and aikibujutsu.

The production values are excellent and Obata Sensei's technique is amazing. Highly recommended!

Obata-Kaiso believes that a thourough understanding and mastery of ashisabaki (footwork) is the foundation upon which all martial arts are built. Obata-Kaiso demonstrates many of the essential and practical footwork patterns for Shinkendo kihon waza (basic technique), tachiuchi (sparring), and Aikido. Additional patterns in suriashi (gliding) and sashiashi (double-step) format are: Kagigata-Jugigata-Masugata, Tatebishi-Yokobishi-Sotobishi, Grid outlines accompany many patterns to assist the learner. Performing these patterns with a partner is an additional aid to mastering them. Yoko Obata assists Obata-Kaiso in demonstrating in sotai (partner) format.
