Works like a normal SD card, but the USB part can be quite wondrous
With these types of products, either they work or they don't. However, this SD card is kind of 2 products in one. On the one hand, you got a hardware SD card interface. Plug it into a PDA, digital camera, GPS device, and whatever else that has an SD card slot. You got the fold out
USB
connectivity that hooks up to a PC desktop or laptop. Both interfaces allow complete access to the card's data.
Initially, when folding out to reveal the USB plug there's a bit of worry that the hinges might get pulled and break, causing you to have a top half where the data and USB plug is and a bottom half that covers the USB plug connectors and forms the standard sized SD card when closed. I believe your average person can break the hinge and pull it a part if enough force is applied, but this would have to be done intentionally in opposite directions so realistically, it's not likely to happen at all. The latch or hook that's on the exposed, sticking out USB portion securely closes up the card also appears it may break after thousands of opens and closes (if at all), but it looks like it holds better if you open it by pressing against a single corner rather that from the center, relieving more pressure off the latch.
As for details with USB connectivity, you need to make sure it's plugged in the correct way. In other words, the metal contacts need to touch the same on the female end. Standard USB memory drives won't allow this, as it physically won't fit since half of inside each the male and female plug has a `filling'. The fillings will block each other if inserted wrong, but will form a snug fit if correct. Plugging in this SD card into a USB port the wrong way won't damage it. You'll just need to reorient it so that the card can be registered as USB storage device. Also, I've noticed this card can't fully plug into certain recessed USB ports, so you may want to find another port that's more open, or get a USB dongle extension to handle that. The card also emits a steady blue light when plugged in, but that light will flicker when data is being transmitted, just like with standard USB memory drives. The card gets noticeably warmer when in the USB port, but nothing too bad at all. My OEM purchase came with a modified case for it. It's still the standard sized SD card case, but the inside has been modified to allow a snug fit for when the card is open or closed.
I will only briefly comment to say that transfer rates appear to be quick fairly quick. Noticeably faster than standard SD cards, if not that much more faster. While I already have SD card readers for my home and office PCs, I'll be using this SD card for documents and other smaller files and leave my standard sized, but larger capacity thumb drives for the bigger files like music and photos. It's flat size also means that you could carry several of them in your wallet, mind you not that thumb drives are that much bigger and some of them are in the 12GB range. To sum up, if you're looking for sheer capacity at the best price, stick with your standard SD cards. If you want USB interface as well (to omit a separate SD card reader) that's simple and well implemented, pay a small extra to get this card. Nowadays, that extra has gone down a lot.

Brilliant design
Every so often, a product comes out with a new feature that is so elegant and useful that you can't help but ask how nobody ever thought of it before. The built-in
USB
on these
Sandisk
Ultra
cards is one of those features.
There's nothing interesting to say about the memory card function of this product. It works, period. It's as fast as advertised, which isn't super fast like the Sandisk Extreme but is certainly much faster than needed to sustain the 2.5 frames per second that my camera can put onto it. The USB function is so useful, though, that I would have bought it just out of principle even if it were not as good a card or if its price weren't so incredibly cheap.

Great card, slightly tight fit
These little cards are amazing! When I got mine, I couldn't stop playing with them for a couple of days. I won't repeat all the other reviewers about how neat and convenient these are and just report a small issue I've experienced:
I have been using regular
SanDisk
Ultra
II cards in my Nikon D50 and they work perfectly. These
Plus
USB
cards have a bit of extra friction when I insert them into the camera, requiring a little more pressure than I would normally be comfortable putting on a delicate piece of electronics.
Also, taking them out of a USB port that is in a tight spot can be a hassle, also due to friction issues. A good example are the cramped USB ports on the front of my Dell tower.
Other than that, they're great, and fit fine in most other readers I've tried.

Filmmaker here with TONS of media
I'm a filmmaker, and I'm often transferring digital files (music, pics, mpeg footage) between Macs and PC's, in addition to sometimes watching things on my Treo
I purchased a
SanDisk
Plus
USB
card last summer and I'm in love with this sucker!
I have a Treo, Mac laptop, and digital camera --- the card can literally be swapped between all three devices, transfering files from one to the other
However, the USB slot is a very welcome feature! The card is a bit fragile, but as long as you're gentle, the card's USB slot fits excellently into all USB ports and gives very quick access and transfer speeds --- this has made file swapping between my Treo, Mac, and other PC's a complete breeze!!!
The best part is that the card plays nice between PC and Mac, and can still go in and out of Treos and Digital Cameras
And lastly, the card is very durable --- again, you have to be gentle when placing the USB stick into a slot, but the card folds up and is as solid as any regular SanDisk card --- although I don't use it, SanDisk also provides a very useful key chain, which is a tiny case that will keep your card protected, while dangling off of your keys (if you like)
I highly recommend it!
Peace and love to you all!

The Best SD card you can buy for war.
I send a lot of time on the road and tons of time in Iraq and this card works great on everything from computers to media players to cameras. Its also faster than other cheapo sd cards. Perfect for hiding it in your wallet and perfect for uniform pockets.
