Works great with Thinkpad T60

I bought this Adaptec AFW-1430A FireConnect to transfer video data from a Sony DCR-HC62 Mini DV camcorder to a Thinkpad T60. The adapter accomplished the job easily and perfectly. Windows XP Professional recognized this Adaptec cardbus and there was no need for any external "driver". This PCMCIA cardbus has 3 IEEE 1394 Firewire ports and a DC power jack for optional external power adapter. I did not need to use the power jack for transferring the video data to my computer. I assume the power jack may be needed for some other tasks requiring more power??. In summary, this card provides 3 firewire ports, is recognized by Windows XP, it is well made, and reasonably priced. Just make sure your computer accepts CARDBUS rather than ExpressCard.

Great Price and Performace

I recently purchased a Panasonic digicam that required fire wire.
Normally I would use the USB connection and edit with Sony Vegas.It worked fine but you also needed the proper drivers and sftware, otherwise my editing program woulndt be able to capture the footage.

Using the Trendnet Firewire card was a simple plug and play. Once I installed the card and connected the camera I was able to transfer immediately. A lot faster than USB. For the xtra $15 this is a must have if your into video editing.
