If you want THOROUGH Kaspersky is your program.

I want to say that this product is a VERY good product - You can't ask for a more thorough anti-virus program. This program scans everything anywhere on your computer. I was registering 4 to 5 hour virus scans. (With the Norton that I had my scans were only about 45 minutes.) I had a problem with the program that led me to uninstall Kaspersky altogether. My program was working ok until I tried to install a new firewall program. (Webroot Desktop Firewall) The firewall program that I installed turned out to be out-dated when I got it, and was prompted to update. It turned out I had to uninstall the firewall program I had installed to do that. I uninstalled the firewall program ok-or at least I thought I did. My Kaspersky froze up. I could not access it by start-up menu or could not uninstall it by Add/remove programs. I had to contact customer service to do that. It turned out that this is Russian programming, and contacting customer service was problematic. I could not get good responses from customer service through email - and it turns out it probably could not have given me the instructions on how to figure out how to uninstall this program. (WRITE DOWN THE KEY CODE WITH THE PROGRAM-IT'S IN THE PROGRAM ITSELF. I forgot to do that & couldn't access it to give it. You need that number for email support.) I contacted Dell who tried to help me-a $79.00 charge. (which I think I still have on my account because Dell couldn't really help me.) They said that the better option was that I should call Kaspersky for them to help me. I finally got a hold of someone at Kaspersky through the customer service number. (It took awhile.) The person who helped me really did help me. He helped me wipe the corrupted program from my computer. He helped me install a more updated program - which was MORE thorough. It worked really well, But it drove me crazy and I finally uninstalled that as well. The program had even longer scans, and even scanned my System Restore files. It also was too good with picking up "SpyWare". It insisted that I do something about what it was picking up on programs that I considered ok. It did not give me a really good option on what to do concerning those programs, and was a bit confusing as far as that. The person who helped me at Kaspersky said that this program 5.0 sometimes does not intergrate well with some firewall programming, but the updated version was improved to correct that problem. Kaspersky does not really have compatable firewall program that I could have to work well with this program-which is too bad. (I learned from Dell as well that when you uninstall a program look for the uninstall feature of the program first before going to the Add/Remove section in control panel. If you don't, when using the Add/Remove section it removes the program, but can also uninstall or remove key files needed or shared by other programs. When using the uninstall feature in a program it will uninstall the program without damaging or corrupting other files. I didn't do that when I uninstalled the Webroot. Live and learn.) This is a 5 star program, but I deducted a point due to shaky customer service. (The program worked well with my Windows firewall, but I felt that Windows firewall didn't give me enough options. It has only 3 options. I also found out that System Restore does NOT correct every problem. I learned it's helpful to create a healthy Restore point prior to installing a program to have a current restore point. I learned it also increases your file system when restoring. If you have limited memory space on your computer that could be a problem.)
