Fujitsu Scanner for Mac

I bought one and liked it so much that we now have 3 of them at work. More and more of our paper is going on disk as this unit is so easy to use that people at work actually like scanning documents. The ease of using it is the biggest feature. Today so many computer related devises are under utilized because they are complicated to use. This scanner is truly a SNAP. The feed mechanism is not 100% reliable but the speed makes up for that inconvenience. It would be nice if there was character recognition software for the Macintoch included but I suppose these Japanese innovators are Bill Gates fans. The Iris software promo is all talk and NO delivery. I'm still waiting after 2 months. I suppose the Continental Promotion Group, Inc. (who handles their rebate programs) gets the blame for this. Bottom line is "this is a great product".

Simply Awesome.

This scanner has been a huge time saver. In a small company environment and an all Mac network this product really can't be beat. Works seemlessly with the included software on OS X platform.

Only downside - occassionally will jam if you try to overload it with a big (ie 50+ pages) document. Other than that it works like a charm. Highly recommended.

Great except for Document feeder

I don't need to repeat the other reviewers too much, but it is fast. I use to scan then copy (eliminated need for a copy machine) as well as scan and store. It is expensive, probably due to the license for Adobe. If you are on a Mac, frankly, Preview is better for general work. It's great but I no longer rely on multipage copying through the document feeder; it jams too frequently to be used in a business environment. So, I have developed a method where I drop the papers into the bin one-by-one and still get a multipage PDF. If you drop papers in at the right moment, it won't jam and you'll get multipage PDF's. It's fast enough that I don't mind doing 4-5 at a time. Last week I had to do 60 in a row, that was a bit tedious, and made me wish that the ADF worked well. Why does my $99 laser printer always feed correctly but this $500 scanner can't? Nevertheless, it never fails to impress my coworkers, and this with my cheap laser printer and laptop I can whiz through piles of that part of my work which consists of scan and store, and copying. You will be impressed with it's small size.

--EDIT-- I want to update the document feeder comments after more use. I just scanned about 1100 sheets of card stock accounts and only one or two misfeeds. I also have figured out that if I push the left and right sides of the paper in the hopper sightly inward, the ADF works much better, and I 'm now much happier with its feeding performance that I was some time ago.

Get rid of paper...

Combine this with Yep on the mac for a way to get rid of most of the paper that clogs up your filing cabinet. Very fast, and like the mac it just works.

Could be Better...

I spend a lot of time scanning my documents to save space in my highly papered environment. I have been using an HPG85 All-In-One Printer for the most part of the last two years and have often been frustrated by the inconsistancy of its network support in scanning. I purchased this scanner in hopes that it's USB connection will alliviate my multi-page scanning issues and find that it works ok for the most part. I find that during multi-page scanning it still jams almost as often as my All-In-One. For a dedicated hardware device whose only job is scanning, I find this disconcerting.
It is easy to use however, and I find the duplex scanning ability a serious time saver.

Fujitsu needs to spend more effort on making its multi-page feed mechanism's more jam proof.
