Masks annoying sounds, but makes its own.

As another reviewer said, this product sounds like it is in a hurry to get somewhere. It's an urgent, straining sound. I tried for a couple of weeks, but couldn't get used to it. It does mask other sounds well, though, so if its own sound doesn't bother you, it would work well. I wanted something that sounds like a box fan, but this sounds more like the vent in the bathroom.

Ahhhh...peaceful sleep

This type product was recommended to me by a friend. I wish I'd found it so much sooner! I'm a light sleeper and the slightest noise from my apartment neighbours would awaken me at any time. Now let them play their music or squeek the floors - it just doesn't matter!
I like the way you can change the 'white noise' level, or frequency of sound. It would get 5 stars but it doesn't sound perfect the way the air filter in my Massage Therapist's room sounds. That's a personal quibble though.

If you have trouble sleeping because of background noises then this could be your answer.

I bought this noise maker for my baby's nursery so that my toddler's noise won't wake her up from sleep. It works very well and I would recommend it to any one who is looking for a white noise maker to give them or their kids a better sleep.

Excellent!

I have been using the Marpac sound conditioner for a couple of weeks now, and it certainly beats my old air purifier (which rattled and growled a bit, and for which now-hard-to-find filters cost a third the price of the machine).

Besides the quality of the item itself, Marpac provided excellent documentation, explaining the possibility of the need for a personal breaking-in of sorts, while one habituates to the machine. VERY thoughtful, and probably based on research/user comments. I got used to it quite rapidly.

I like it! I live in an apartment building, where even comparatively light ambient noise can startle someone at the edge of sleep. It works for me, and I hope it will for you, too.
