Best Silicone Gel Sheeting on the Market

I got an 3/4" hypertrophic scar on my face from tattoo removal (chemical burn) 2 years ago. I have tried Kelo-Cote gel, Curad Scar Sheets, and Hydrocortisone Iodoquinol (prescribed by doctor); but none work as well as CIca Care Silicone Gel Sheeting.

Kelo-Cote only removed the "top" layer of the scar, but it doesn't stop it from reforming/growing back. The Curad Scar Sheets "flatten" the scar, but it also "harden" so the texture of the skin is not normal.

The Cica Care Gel Sheeting softens the scar, allowing the "dead scar tissues" be gradually removed during washing. From my personal experience, I found that it's best not to wash with soap or any cleanser, and keep the scar area as dry as possible -- just wash gently using a clean, damp washcloth.

What worked well for me was to use Cica Care Gel Sheeting at night, and Hydrocortisone Iodoquinol during the day. The CC Gel Sheeting softens the scar allowing it to slowly removed during washing. The Hydrocortisone Iodoqionol helped the skin heal and prevents infection.

The Best Product Available for Scar Prevention

My 5 y.o. daughter was attacked by a neighbors german shepherd several months ago. She sustained multiple bites to the right side of her face and left side of her throat/neck. After nearly 3 hours of reconstructive plastic surgery, she was left with a total of 14 cm of lacerated/sutured tissue. Obviously, I'm determined to do everything possible to minimize the scarring. Hours of extensive research online revealed that silicone products are the best for prevention/minimization of scar tissue. Cica Care is easy to use & take care of. (Wash with soap & water, and it can be reused..) It is comfortable for my daughter to wear, and it has even reduced the discomfort usually associated with scar tissue. She wears the patches @ night, and a liquid silicone product during the daytime. We are thrilled with the results so far! This is an amazing product & although it is expensive, to us it is priceless.

Gel Dressing for a Key loid scar

The gel sheets are OK but don't stay on like it says it should. The silicone gel in the tube was more effective.

Widely used by hospitals, dermatologists, and surgeons, Cica Care is a self-adhesive gel sheet used in the management and reduction of hypertrophic and keloid scars. In fact, it's been proven to be 90% effective in improving red, dark, or raised scars. It isn't just for fresh or new scars either, Cica Care can actually improve scars that are up to 20 years old! Even the itching and discomfort that usually accompany red or raised scars can be alleviated. Available in 12cm x 15cm gel sheets, that can be cut to fit most any scar. Plus, each cut piece will last up to 28 days when in use. The average treatment time of individual scar is 2-4 months. With each active piece lasting 14-28 days, the cost effectiveness of Cica Care is clear. Depending on the size of your scar, you may be able to effectively soften, flatten, and fade your scar with just one sheet. Cica Care is extraordinarily comfortable because of its unique combination of both a silicone membrane and gel. This combination also makes it more durable and less likely to "crumble" than other silicone gel sheets. This durability also makes it possible for the sheet to be used both day and night. For maximum treatment effectiveness it is recommended that the gel sheet be applied for only 4 hours the first time. You should then increase your wearing time by 2 hours each day (i.e. Day 1 - 4 hours, Day 2 - 6 hours, Day 3 - 8 hours, etc); doing this will give your skin a chance to get used to the gel strip. To help you keep track of your treatments download this Treatment Diary provided by Smith & Nephew. During treatment, you should clean your sheet twice daily. During periods of increased activity or during warmer weather the dressing should be cleaned even more frequently. Cleaning the sheet is very simple, just use any mild soap to wash the entire strip then dry with a lint free cloth.
