Pure, Enjoyment

If you are a Tolkien Fan, you will certainly enjoy this game. This game offers you numerous Hero's mentioned in the book (Not just those in the movies) to play, as well as numerous hours of fun, appealing to Tolkien Fans and gamers alike.

when i first got this game 2 years ago, it was [...]$ now it is an average of [...]$! now that shows how great the game is! the only thing is that if you have a problem TS sucks! but the game is awsome! i highly recomend this game! it is #3 on my top RTS games my #1 is C&C 3 #2 DoW2 then this game! i absautly love it (im 13) but i have incounterd 25 year olds playing online!

Fun, different gameplay; The original is better

I can't believe the original BFME is on Amazon for almost [...]--I bought mine at on sale in a store for about 10! So I searched around and found this was still pretty cheap.

Game Overall:
It's lost some of it's luster from the first one because
A)You aren't fighting battles from the movies
B)Only some of the characters are voiced by the movie actors
C)There are less characters from the movies and more original "new" game heroes--you can't direct Boromir, Gandalf, Frodo, or any of those. The only ones from the movie are Gimli, Elrond, Eowen and that Ha-something elf from the battle of Helms deep.

However, the real way to play this game, as it is essentially a NEW stand-alone different from BFME 1, is in the "War of The Ring" mode. It's a strategic game between you and the computer AI taken in turns, kind of like LOTR chess. In this mode you start as a tiny army in one location of middle earth (you choose the army type: elves, dwarves, etc). You view a map of middle earth and select a location to travel to. You're army icon moves and then you can build 2 items at each location--items such as a fortress or baracks. You continue to conquer territory and build your army until you encounter an enemy force--either both of you trying to conquer the same area, or one of you attacking the other. Then you go into Battle mode, which is the close up RTS mode we're familiar with from the first game. From there you can build more fortresses and baracks, etc, but they do not last after the battle is over; your winning or losing the battle only affects you winning or losing the territory.

It was fun to play and definitely not too hard, as one reviewer mentioned. It worked on Vista, which is the main reason I bought this and didn't continue replaying the original (which actually may have been due to my CD being scratched more than Vista-compatibility issues). It fulfilled my LOTR RTS craving, and if you're a die-hard fan of the books and movies then you'll enjoy this. Just probably not as much as the original.

I enjoy this game. It is a twist on the original(first) version that came out.
