Super

Trips seem shorter! Driving is fun again. Works well right out of the box. When it suggests the fastest route, it wants to take you "out of the way" at times. However, when you proceed an alternate route that you know best, it recalculates quickly. It also seems to "learn" the preferred route and will use it on a return trip. This is the best purchase I have made in a long time! The Bluetooth capability makes this a slam dunk!

It died twice

I went thru this twice: it died after short period of use, could not turn on. When it was working, it's a great device, but quality and reliability is a big issue.

Warning! Product Discontinued

Hi All
Garmin StreetPilot c550 is a great GPS Unit. I bought it last week for my friend. It was for 170 Bucks from Amazon. It works great out of the box, acquires GPS Signals almost at the startup even if it's cold start up.
However, I won't recommend it to any one now since Garmin has DISCONTINUED the product and hence, you won't get any support for it. So far, I am even not been able to register it at Garmin since this product is not listed in the Products to Choose. Amazon didn't mention this in the product main page thus distracting the buyers.
My sincere advice is to check the Garmin Site first before you purchase any Garmin unit since most of them have been marked as discontinued including this, c530, Nuvi 350 and others.
Moreover, maps in the unit appears to be of 2006. This shows how older this unit had been in the depot. So beware of this fact too even if you wish to purchase this. It didn't detect most of the addresses in the LongView,TX and Tyler,TX. I used my Navigon 7100 to reach those places. Then we use the Good Option of Garmin c550 to save your current location by tapping on the MAP.
