being The Flaming Lips 11th studio album is a straight forward rock album that has psychadelic elements but on the whole sounds like generic rock with lyrics that one has heard before. This album has a rating of 3 out 5 written all over it and I agree with Allmusic, Tiny Mix Tapes and Rolling Stone in their assessment of the album. To call this album psychadelic is not correct. As I wrote earlier it has psychadelic elements but on the whole this is psychadelic light. The booklet has a very strange cover with a man close to a volcano or something that is supposed to resemble a volcano. All the lyrics are included but we do not get a list of whom plays what on the album which is a shame. 3/5.

Great but different...
If you buy this album looking for more 'Yoshimi' then you might be disappointed. This is a very good album, though a tad disjointed, but with more emphasis on actual instruments instead ethereal sounds. 'The Wand' and 'Mr. Ambulance Driver' are the two most popular songs on this album and will be recognized but every track is worth listening to.
I dont know how they handled this...
I orderedthe vinyl version of this album. I love this album and always have. Very poppy psychadelia, and a beautiful sound. However, it looked like the album itself had been smashed from the sides. It was packed for shipping in a very sturdy box so I believe it happened in the
war
ehouse. At some point the album had been crushed in such a way that the record itself pushed through the top and bottom edges of the jacket. Unfortunate damage. Luckily I do t really care, but a lot of collectors would.

Less lingering
Creative strain can be heard in some crude implementations of melody and druggy effects, resulting in less memorable music. If only unable to compete with their last two fantastic outings, the entire package-particularly the first side-flows well enough to produce another agreeable neo-psychedelia entry.
Cosmic, consciousness-expanding and mind-shattering, At
War
With The
Mystics
, the highly anticipated follow-up to The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots brings together the expressiveness of recent albums with the heaviness, volume and intensity of the band's earlier work. At War With The Mystics is personal, political, psychedelic and powerful pop.
