I don't know how these would taste if one is used to eating junk foods and cooked foods, but I have been eating only raw foods for two months and these bars are really a special treat. The chocolate in them is as pleasing to me as any chocolate cake, brownie, or candy bar ever was when I used to eat junk foods - even more so because I know that they are healthy and I am truly satisfied once I am finished with the bar!
Almost a Brownie
I just conducted a side-by-side test of the PureChocolateBrownieBar and the Larabar Chocolate Coconut Chew. They both are quite good. The Pure bar has a more chocolate flavor whereas the Larabar chocolate is barely detectable, possibly being overwhelmed by the dates. The Pure bar has a more chewy consistency and fewer nuts while the Larabar is drier and has tremendously more nuts as well as the coconut. I have the Larabar on automatic shipment (once a month) and it is a real bargain. I wish the Pure bar was similarly offered, including the price ($19, including shipping). Bottom line: if you crave chocolate, get the Pure; if you love nuts/coconut at a bargain price, get the Larabar.
If you are craving chocolate and want to keep it pure and simple, try this chocolate browniebar. It will satisfy your sweet tooth and at the same time, be a great snack. Made with organic, raw ingredients, I recommend you try this one the next time a brownie craving comes into your mind.
I'm a big buyer of food bars, because I'm a college student and I don't have a lot of time to put together healthy meals during the week. After doing a lot of reading I've been gravitating more towards "Raw foods", and more specifically, "Raw Bars". I like Lara Bars, but sometimes I feel like they don't satisfy me enough, and most of the flavors I like have over 220 calories. I saw these PureChocolateBrownie bars in Lowe's, and decided to try them.
I tried all of the other flavors first, and I do really like the Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Chip Trail Mix. The blueberry one was not very good, it didn't really taste like blueberries, and I couldn't figure out what I was tasting. It wasn't worth the 190 calories. Chocolate Brownie is by far, my favorite! I enjoy them alone, but I tried one with just a TINY bit of peanut butter spread on to it [and I mean, a tiny bit] and it was even better. It really tastes like a rich gooey brownie - and totally satisfies my chocolate craving. I babysit all day during the summer and it kills me to watch the kids enjoying their treats - but if I bring along one of these bars I don't feel like I'm missing out at all, I feel like they should be jealous of ME because the Pure Bars are that good!
I am however, taking off one star because of the price. I know most food bars are expensive, but these are two bucks at the grocery store, which isn't bad if you run in and buy like one...but if you decide to stock up and buy say, 5 or 10 of them, that's going to set you back anywhere between $10-$20. Definitely costs more than other bars, like Kashi or Lara bars....but they are great to have every so often.
