The DeGERM-inator was the first and is still the best and safest portable ultraviolet sanitizer on the market, in my opinion. I began using the original version of it years ago and that lamp is still working! This model is the second version of the original product, first introduced in 1999. This new model DG/2 is far superior to the original...congratulations to Spectroline, the manufacturer, for the great job of re-engineering an already terrific and innovative product.
This new lamp produces significantly more UV irradiance and intensity than even the larger uv wands being sold so it is faster to use and delivers a lethal "dose" in less time. This is because of the patented uv reflector designed into the lamp which effectively triples the intensity and irradiance of the unique, the 5 watt output. Most importantly, this lamp has been throughly tested and proven effective at destroying most commonly encountered microorganisms such as e-coli, samonella and staph, including antibiotic resistant strains, in carefully controlled laboratory tests which were performed by a major New York university, according to the manufacturer. No other portable uv sanitizers, to my knowledge, have conducted such tests.. Finally, the seller of this item is a professional in the sanitation industry and, most importantly one of the leading experts on UV sanitation technologies and applications in the US. I also know that he consults with institutions such as schools, hospitals, professional sports teams, law enforcement professionals and others on infection control and uv sanitation technology in particular. I am confident buying from someone who understands this technology and who knows what he is talking about. I also understand that the Special Olympics has choosen this lamp to use for germicidal protection of their athletes, physicians and staff members at the 2008 Olympic games being held in Bejing, China. This was a good choice for me because i wanted something i could take
to any medical place to make sure everything was sanitized and for vacations. It is easy to run across "used bedding" and medical equipment
so you dont have to be concerned they did what they should. I appreciate the way the company handled my questions with prompt email and courteous
replies. This is a good choice if you know what you want and fits your needs.
