Almost excellent

The burner is solidly built. I wish it is a bit shorter. I am using it with my mini-mac(power pc). one slight problem is during a 2 drives copy setup. mini-mac to read, and Lacie to write, some errors showed up and aborted the operation. I supposed the reading drive is slower and hence causing the problem. Other than that, as both read and write drive, the Lacie showed no problem at all.

I've burned hundreds of dvd's with this burner, many of them dual layer, and it's always gotten the job done perfectly! I'll admit I haven't used the lightscribe feature, but I don't really see much use for it. Nice to know that it's there if I need it, though.

Excellent value for Mac Powerbooks

I've gone through five DVD-RW drives - one from OWC using an Oxford bridge (which was elecrically very strange) and four using generic cases and Prolific bridges - all using high quality Pioneer drives trying to find one which will work with firewire on a Powerbook G4@1.5ghz, and failed - until this drive.

I've yet to use LightScribe - a dying technology due to pricey media - but in all other ways this drive is a good buy.

This is no tin-can or plastic cheapo case, and the USB2/firewire bridge works flawlessly. If you don't need the software (which I didn't), you can probably get a slightly cheaper package without the bundled software - something I didn't realize at the time of purchase.
