A beautifully written, thoughtful revision to the history of the Americas

Charles Mann has produced a fascinating account of the cultural, scientific and military history of the American people--before the 1st European stepped foot on the soil. This book compiles enormous and thought-provoking revisions to the spotty, Eurocentric history we were taught in school, all of it supported by very recent scientific evidence. I couldn't put it down. I have made gifts of this book, and heartily recommend it to anyone interested in the ground we live on.

I can't say enough about this book. I spent hours telling my friends on the Internet about its mind-bending revelations. The author writes beautifully. His description of the effects of North American Indians on the world's perception of individual dignity and personal freedom is extraordinary. Get this book!
