Just when I thought it was safe
Just when I thought it was safe to assume that the UE Super.fi5 was the ticket I decided to try the UE
Triple
.fi10's. I received them in a
roadie
case
numbered(977 out of 1000) which is kind of interesting if indeed only 1,000 pcs. were made in the
blue
color. If not, who cares based on what my
ears
had heard. The sound emanating from these stylish & slightly bulky
earphones
was so astonishing that I actually got my wife to listen & she too was quite amazed. The three drivers inside create a soundstage that can replace anything you have at home. I don't care if it's a $50K system. For $400.00 you're in music heaven never wanting to return to the real world we all live in. I'm not
pro
ne to exaggeration but I've got to admit that I'm so hooked that I want to tell everyone I know even though they don't care that much about sound or spending 400 big ones for earphones or headphones. I have a vast CD collection so that's what I use as my source. I'm a tad old fashioned so I use a Sony portable CD player which does a splendid job in reproducing the sound across a very broad spectrum. Yes that's right, no i-pod for me. From Beethoven to Billy Joel to Pink Floyd & Steely Dan, all across the musical landscape, my life is forever changed as is my new appreciation for music which was always huge but not like this. I know they cost alot but when every musical nuance & every detail is brought forth like never before, you'll thank yourself for this wonderful gift. I still have the UE5's & love them too. By the way, amazon was great in delivering the phones to me via 2nd day UPS, hassle free.

The absolute best
I'm a self-
pro
fessed headphone junkie. And, while I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, I do have a BFA in music so I have a pretty well-developed ear. That being said, these
earphones
reveal details I've never heard in songs I've listened to a thousand times.
Before buying these, I used the Super.Fi 5 Pros for about two y
ears
and I loved them. Then, I bought the Shure SE530 based on all the glowing reviews I had read. They were very comfortable and cooler looking that the phones from
Ultimate
Ears, but their rolled-off highs (or as some like to say, their "warm" sound) just made me long for the sparkle of my trusty Super.Fis. The
Triple
.Fis are a huge step-up from either--you get the sparkling highs of the Super.Fis and the clean, enhanced bass of the Shures.
To my ear, these provide the best sound I've ever heard from a headphone--period. I would have bought these at twice the price. Highly recommended!!!

I do not actually own these headphones, however I am currently at war with myself about spending $400, which I can not afford, on new IEM's. The reason for this battle is my trip to MacWorld in January. I was able to spend some serious time traveling from booth to booth, listening to various headphones. I have owned a pair of etymotic 6i's for almost 2 y
ears
, and have been pleased with their sound quality, I tried several Shure models and some of the lower UE models as-well, and concluded that they are all among the best sounding headphones I have ever used. but then I had the opportunity to listen to the UE 10's. There is no way to describe the difference in sound other than space. Every IEM I have tried sounds like a good pair of headphones except the UE 10's which sound like something else entirely. Standing in that noisy room, with my eyes closed listening to Bramfatura on my friends ipod. I felt separate from the world in a way that I have never before experienced. It was almost as if it were just me and the guitar player in a small sound studio. I have no delusions about the quality of an iPod amplifier, and i can only imagine what a airhead or other quality amp would do with these. But they talk about being able to hear the musician breath, the fingers move on the fret-board, and the foot tap in the back of the studio. You can, even with the cheep iPod amp, you hear every nuance and the sound fills a space that as of yet only these headphones have been able to create for me. So I debate, pondering weather spending that $400 dollars is worth owning the nearly religious experience these cans deliver. If you can afford them get them, and if you can't afford them, try anyway. It is worth it.

Triple.Fi's....amazing; Amazon...not so much
Hi everyone. This is the story of how I came to own the magnificent UE
Triple
.fi 10
Pro
headphones.
About a year and a half ago, I purchased a pair of Super.fi 5 Pro headphones from Guitar Center; I loved these headphones - They were comfortable and gave me great sound on all types of music. My only complaint about the Super.fi was their build quality - I had to RMA the super.fis after about 6 months and then a year later, I had to call UE back for a second RMA number. When speaking to UE about my 2nd RMA, I mentioned to them that I really wanted to "upgrade" to the triple.fi's, but the rep told me that this was not possible. A few days later, I called UE back and spoke to the rep again and mentioned that I was not too excited about having my headphones replaced with the same model that had already failed on me twice within a year. She said that the triple.fi were not yet available, but that she could "hold onto" my super.fi's until they became available...at which time, she would call me back and I could pay the price difference between the super.fi's and the triple.fi's. I then asked when the triple.fis would be available and she said sometime in March. I grumbled a little and asked how this was possible considering that the triple.fi's were showing as "in stock" on amazon. She said that the amazon lot were the only ones left and offered to credit my card once she received my RMA shipment so that I could go ahead and order the triple.fi's from amazon. I was thrilled...I order the trips from amazon on Monday and opted for 2 day shipping. The package arrived on Wednesday as planned. I opened the package and to my shock and dismay, the
Roadie
case
was empty...no headphones, no accesssories, no owners manual. Based on my previous encounters with UE customer service, I was cool as a cucumber...I knew UE would fix this. So I didn't even worry about calling amazon customer support. Instead, I phoned up UE directly. Less than 20 hours later, the FedEx guy was knocking on my door with a package. I opened the package and there they were...the Triple.Fi 10 Pros....they were beautiful. UE also went ahead and had my name printed on the Roadie case which I thought was a nice touch. I listened to the phones for about an hour and then hooked them up for another 24 hours of "burn in".
I am not going to go on and on about how they sounded since I am not the best at stringing together all those fancy audiophile terms, but let me just say that I cannot imagine a pair of IEMs sounding any better. The bass on these things is not overpowering, but it goes LOW. I was amazed when listening to Bela Fleck's Flight of the Cosmic Hippo...I thought Vic's bass solo was going to pop my eardrums...seriously. The mids and treble are even better than the bass; these phones have it all. The phones sound great when run directly out of my 4th Generation B&W iPod, but they sound even better running through my ALO cryo micro dock and Ray Samuels Audio Tomahawk amplifier.
One thing that is weird is that the black tips that came with the triple.fi's don't seem to seal as well as the grey ones that I had on my super.fi's. It's a good thing I kept some of the grey tips. They don't match the color scheme of the rest of the phones, but hey...I can't argue with what seals better.
The thing I don't get is why there is a perception that the triple.fi's are so hard to find. If amazon is showing them as "in stock", why aren't more people ordering them? Granted, my amazon experience was not ideal, but at the end of the day (next day actually), I had the triple.fi's in hand and they are amazing.
