quality and quiet

I've been using these headphones with my Sansa mp3 player for about a year and they are great. The adjustable ear-inserts make them comfortable for almost anybody and produce much clearer, crisper sound than most ear buds. The extension piece is also very useful, just long enough to listen comfortably, with a little slack, while the player is in my shirt pocket or on an arm band.

I like them so much I bought a pair for my mom for Christmas to go with her new iPod. She loves them too.

These are much better than the knock-offs which Apple sells at its stores, and cheaper too.

My only complaint is they are so good at isolating sound that I can't hear people talking to me when the music is playing. Though that can be a plus if you're in a noisy environment alone.

Amazing sound, horrible cord

The sound in these headphones is absolutely amazing. Only thing I've heard better are my Sony studio monitors that radio DJ's use.

The bad part is the cord. If you're running and have an MP3 player on your waist, the stupid mid-way connector bounces like crazy, causing your left ear to get tugged on with every step. I have to hold the connector so the earplug doesnt get yanked out of my ear from the stupid connector.

I'm going to buy an armband, which should fix the problem, but I just feel like there had to be a better way of doing this.

Very Satisfied

These headphones have not disappointed in sound quality. Considering the price, they do an excellent job of reproducing music no matter whether the material is Classical, Choral, Pop, Rock or Big Band. I purchased them as a replacement to the headphones that came with my SanDisk Sansa e140. I have paired them up with my Sansa, my LG VX8350 MP3 phone as well as my Sony DA80ES receiver and all sources sound surprisingly good. I am certain that there are more expensive ear-buds out there that sound better but I am happy with the value that these have delivered.

I do consider myself an audiophile and for critical listening, I use a pair of Sony MDR-7506 over-the-ear headphones. However it is not practical to take that type of fidelity on the go. This is where the MDR-EX71SLAs come in. The noise suppression is excellent. I do not know a method by which to measure the dB decrese, but I would guess it to be at least 10dB or better. As far as comfort, I do a lot of computer programming and I use these at work to shut out the ambient noise and listen to what I want to hear. I literally wear them all day w/o any noticable fatigue. They are very comfortable. I only take them out to allow my ears to "breathe". The only drawback I see is that the texture of the coating on the wiring seems to absorb dirt and stain easily. As a result depending on where you use them they may not look too pretty after a while. However, at the asking price I could justify replacing them as needed. They are portable headphones and will be used in applications I wouldn't dream of taking my "Professional" headphones so I am very satisfied with my purchase.
