Ideal for basting before indoor grilling.

I wanted a short handled basting brush primarily for prepping food for indoor grilling (on a Cuisinart Griddler Jr.), and I wanted a brush that would be easier to clean than the bristle basting brushes I've used in the past. By clean I mean that the brush wouldn't retain smells. And I wanted a brush that, unlike brushes with wooden handles and/or parts, could be left in a wet sink. The OXO silicone brush fills the bill perfectly.

I got nervous after using it with liquid smoke, because even after rinsing it with very hot water it still had that hickory smoke smell. But the smell went away completely after soaking the brush in soapy water before rinsing it.

It holds liquids - olive oil, liquid smoke, etc. - just fine.

One thing I like about OXO Good Grips kitchen products in general is that they do indeed have "good grips," and are extremely comfortable and manageable in my large hands.

Great Pastry Brush

My husband is a Professional Chef and he uses this all the time. He usually does not like my "gadgets" but he loves this one. The liquid stays on the brush and does not land all over the place. Plus you do not have the problem of bristles from natural brushes falling in the food. Clean up is easy - hand wash or better yet holds up nicely in the dishwasher.
