Never could understand the fuss over Starbucks. Overpriced by most opinions and now the money could be better used for gas. Buy a Senseo Machine. Simple latte with great flavor from the Senseo pods..foam and all..Coffee from Belgium..beats all including Gevalia which is a rip off at more than 15.00 a pound? Senseo comes out to about .50 cents or less per 8oz serving. Only Dunkin Donuts Turbo might be as good, but again expensive. Buy some paper cups with lock lids and take it with you in the car. Some of you are spending more than $1300.00 a year on Starbucks. Forget about it. The Senseo machine can be found for half price (35.00) at some sites (NIB) and if you subscribe to the Amazon pod subscription, you will not find the DouweEgberts pods cheaper anywhere. Makes great ice coffee, using the dark roast pods and the shaker with ice method...vietnamese style with sweet condensed milk...can't be beat...Decaf pods are medium roasted and perfect for the nightly ice coffee late in the evening. Try it. A Starbucks is a gallon of gas sometimes. Don't cry poor mouth while downing an ultra lite soy caramel grande something or other for 5.00 at Starbucks or do you need to be seen there and the coffee is of no importance. The medium roast is perfection but the dark for strong coffee lovers is strong and just below the bitter line where it should be. Brew a 4 or 8 ounce serving and drink it ASAP at the perfect temperature. If you are taking it with you, nuke it for less than 12 seconds on high. I use half n half...use what you like. I don't add flavors, liquid or powder..Coffee is the flavor I am looking for and it is in there naturally. Flavors syrups belong on ice cream or waffles, not in coffee. Just try it..You can even add scalded milk if you like. Remember scalded is below boiling. Keep the stir going until you see tiny bubbles.ok enough.
I'm so glad that I found this subscription offer. It's a great price with no shipping!!
Darker, stronger, please!
I love the convenience of Senseopods--pop 'em in, fill the water tank, and press the start button. The dark roast is my favorite, but I wish Senseo would come out with a French roast and other darker, richer varieties. I know there's a Senseo espresso now, but it requries purchasing an espresso pod holder, so I haven't tried it yet. Perhaps it would work in my regular two-pod holder if I used one espresso pod and one dark roast pod...haven't tried it yet. That works with other pod brands that I sometimes use with the Senseo pods--one of each in the two-pod holder. I tried Senseo Sumatra, but didn't go back; less satisfying than the dark roast. We go through six to eight Senseo pods daily at my house, so I take advantage of the handy automatic order process through Amazon. I love serving Senseo dark roast coffee to guests. They're always impressed by the foamy head and fresh-made taste and aroma. It's good coffee, but I sure would like more darker, stronger varieties.
