I love my 24" LG. Even with a less thatn perfect video source (Dell notebook) it gives a perfect image at 1920x1200 resolution. The image is bright, crips, and clear. This is about my 30th monitor in my life and by far it's my favorite.

Solid Mid-range 24" Monitor

Bought this monitor primarily for PhotoShop, Corel Painter X, and InDesign work. For those uses, it's worth it, but if you're simply a gamer, save your money and go for one of the "faster" response, less expensive monitors.

While the packing leaves it open to shipping damage (Thanks, Amazon, for the great exchange service when the first one came in damaged. Have never had a company respond that well and that quickly to solve a problem) the monitor itself is well designed.

It's an MVA panel which is much different than the usual TN panels found it lower cost monitors. MVA (and the comprable PVA technology) is mid-range between the TN technology and the very high end S-IPS technology found in the 24" monitors that sell in the $1800-$2500 range. It gives you much better color saturation, more even lighting levels, and finer color gradations than the TN panels but less than the 14 bit color found in many of the S-IPS panels.

The LG-L245WP is an excellent implementation of a mid-range monitor. The mount is solid, moves up and down with minimal effort, yet doesn't move unless you want it to, and pivots 90 degrees (and the accompanying software works well and appears to be bug free). For a serious, but not professional, graphics/photography/video person, that can't justify spending $1800 on a monitor, it's a great combination of quality, price, and capability.

Comptetitors include, among others, the Samsung 245T and the Apple 23" Cinema monitor, both of which are similar technology. It is also virtually identical to the LG-L246WP which LG builds as well. The 246 seems to show up more in the bricks and mortar retail channels. By making slight cosmetic differences and giving it a different model number, LG helps those retailers not have to price match against the online outlets since it's a "different model". :-)

Bottom line, I'd buy it again and, given the service I've had from Amazon, would even spend a little extra if necessary, to buy it from Amazon.
