Good monitor, not very loud
bought this on the recommendation of a friend, but somewhat disappointed. the selling point is that it's quiet. the downside is, you have to listen much more carefully than with other (less expensive)
monitor
s. we put the monitor on a table the is directly ajacent to our bassinet. if you are working in the kithchen or the garage and have it on max volume and max sensitivity, you can't hear the
baby
until he starts to scream at the top of his lungs.
all in all it's a decent monitor and is much better looking than most monitors, but i think i'm going to use it for my older baby. we'll use our old monitor for the newborn so we can hear him better.

The BEST Monitor
This is hands down the best
baby
monitor
! We have 2 children under the age of 2 and I received a 900MHz monitor for my 1st at our baby shower. It was fine, at first, then all the static and background noise gave me a constant headache and made it difficult for me sleep. My husband found this monitor and we just LOVE IT. It's perfect - you only hear noice when your children make noise: NO back ground noise, no static, nothing. We love it so much, we bought a 2nd one for our new baby. I highly recommend it. And, of course, ordering through amazon was super easy and hassle free! A win-win.

Baby monitor
We've tried LOTS of different
monitor
s, and this is the first one that we can get a clear signal throughout our small rancher! I also like the "sleep" mode, so we don't have to hear our daughter's music all day long, it just comes on when she needs us, which is the whole point of the thing! Definitely worth the extra money you pay for it.

Philips Avent (SCD590) 2-parent monitor vs Grace Vibe
I also have the Graco Vibe, but I like this
monitor
best. It delivers as promised. I had a couple of concerns after reading other reviews (batteries and volume) I found that the battery life works as promised; I followed the manufacturers instructions for charging/discharging. The volume, with sensitivity and volume turned up,is adaquate for me (I want to hear everything), though not quite as loud as the Grace Vibe. The sensitivity is excellent; the volume is good if your surroundings are not too loud. THe range and lack of interference for this monitor however are much better than with the Graco vibe so it is worth the extra money. Also the Graco battery life is only 1-2 hour compared to 7-8hr with the
Philips
("on"). I like the intercom feature for communicating between
parent
s in a multi-level home. Also the lanyards (and belt clips) are a nice touch, and I like that the moniters charge in bases for easy drop off and pick up.

Fantastic for a big house/large property
This
monitor
is absolutely fantastic. We live in a rambling house that's well over 4000 square feet, and have several acres of property as well. I believe the range of the monitor to be much more than the 900 feet claimed, as I have yet to go out of range while outdoors. The monitor does take some getting used to, and you DO have to read the directions before use (as you should with ANY product), but once you understand the machine it's simple as pie to use and does its job perfectly. Make sure to use rechargeable batteries ONLY, and charge the batteries and discharge them several times prior to use, as stated in the instructions. We have had
zero
issues with battery life because we followed the instructions.
For those people complaining about not being able to hear their kid, I suspect that they did not understand the way the sensitivity adjustment works--you change it on the handset itself by pressing Sensitivity and then using the volume + or - buttons to adjust it. We actually have to keep ours on 3 or 4 instead of all the way up, because it's so sensitive.
For the lady who complained that she didn't know her
baby
was awake because he didn't make enough noise: no monitor is going to alert you to a silent but awake kid! Count your blessings, LOL!

DECT
digital technology provides a secured, private connection, because you want to be the only one listening to your
baby
. Automatically chooses an unused channel and switches as it detects another device using the same channel.
