Read any review and you know how great the BG-E3 is. The canon grip is of better quality than the off brands and only cost a bit more. But to get the BG-E3, two batteries, a charger, a lens cleaning kit, and a bag for only little more than just the grip itself, you have to get this kit. All of this is the same price, if not less,than an off brand grip and two batteries.

I won't review the BG-E3 - there are plenty of independant reviews that give it 5*, and I agree with them.

If you are thinking of getting the grip, it is worth buying this kit rather than the grip by itself. The batteries are not original Canon OEM. They are from Digital Concepts. The batteries are 1500mAh, so they are twice the capacity of the 750mAh originals. If you want the grip so you can have extened battery life, you might as well get these larger capacity batteries as well. Even though I take several hundred photos in a day with an IS autofocus lens (which uses up battery life), there's no sign of battery flag. This wasn't the case with a single OEM battery which I had to change during the day.

Charger fits regular outlet and also comes wih a 12V car adapter and a European plug. It's a little stockier than the Canon charger, but feels well made. Charges one battery at a time and seems to do it fairly quickly (sorry, I haven't done any time trials, so can't report them here).

I consider the carry case to be a "freebie". It is very small and would be a tight squeeze for a Rebel with grip on it - certainly it's too small if you have several lenses, flash, etc. It's well made, so it might make a nice birthday gift for someone with a smaller camera.

Summary: Grip plus 2 batteries make it cost effective to buy the kit. Useful to have an extra charger. Ignore the carry case when making a decision.

The discount on the BG-E3 is better than any store online or locally could ever offer and extra added goodies (additional Batteries, chargers, perfect sized camera bag, and lens cleanng kit) come in great use. Ultimate gift, at the ultimate best price. Highly Suggest you buy this deal rather than the more expensive battery grip alone.

Canon Battery Grip

This is a great product. I'm using the the bag that was included in the kit for my cam corder it didn't look like the one pictured but it's ok. The batteries that are included are not Canon brand but are higher capacity. The charger is ok but the batteries fit loose in it, but it works and it comes wth a car adapter. Instalation of the grip was easy.I don't have lage hands but the grip definatley improves the feel of the 400D in my hand. For what you get it's woth the price. I would recomend this product.
