What's not to like?

Okay I got it free from Apple but it quickly has become my families favorite printer. Setup was simple(window xp), operation is simple, and it still has not burned up the ink (getting close) after 14 (8x10)tee-shirt transfers and the occasional print job. It really shines at the copy function. What's not to like with a printer that's simple to operate and does what is says? (You don't really believe anyone but me is going to open the manual do you?) The button display is self explaining and does what it indicates with the least amount of button pushing...the cancel button truly cancels(like right now). What a novel feature! I'm sure the others reviewer have worthy complains but for me with a house full of Canon ink jets: (2)mp-830, (1)s750 and Brother laser(1) HL-1440 I say yahoo HP. I thought I'd never buy another HP product after my last scanner incident but I'm impressed with a 100 buck multi-function machine performing so well. No it not the fastest nor the sharps print but it good enough to be the most used color printer in the house.

I'm not a Windows or Mac user, so I can't comment on how it works in either of those operating systems. My operating system is Ubuntu (linux).

Here's my experience with the printer:

I plug it in, turn it on, ubuntu detects it, and it prints flawlessly. No complaints.

Scanning works without a hitch.

Truly a plug & play experience for me. No input required from me at all to make this work.

I have absolutely no complaints about this printer. All of the negative reviews here baffle me. It doesn't come with a USB cable (no printer does). Some people complain about paper falling out after printing... there's a plastic tray that you pull out to catch it. It's not rocket science.

The print quality looks great. I printed a few documents in each of the 3 quality levels and can't tell the difference between them. It's quiet as well (I read one review saying it was so loud it woke their roommate up -- they must be a light sleeper).

All in all this is a bargain worth checking out if you need a cheap, good quality printer/scanner/copier.

HP C4280 All in One review

I really like my new HP All in one Printer. It's fast in printing and copying. And the quality of the prints is very nice.
Only little drawbacks are that it scans a little slow and I don't really care for the paper tray placement because it's on the bottom of the unit. But, overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.
