While some reviewers found book six slow, I thought the story in book six introduced new characters and situations that are obviously going to set up books down the line. Because I'm not always into long, drawn-out mysteries, I actually enjoyed this novel for its straight-forward action and plot development. Yes, there were still mysterious actions going on in the story, but they are answered rather quickly, and only aid in propelling the story on a bit more.
On the whole, I liked the new characters and the direction the series has taken. The story has become even more paranormal than it was before (if possible), and it should be interesting to see where it goes. I can't say that the writing is sparkling (no vampire pun intended), but the story telling is interesting and holds a twist of comedy and drama that feels strange for this type of novel. It's hard not to care about Sookie and her life. Really, I think that while Sookie's strange draw to every man she associates with can be a bit annoying, that you do grow to want to see her safe and happy!
I love SookieStackhouse, and while I work, I can listen to her books. It's a great way to get your work done, but also to listen to a book at the same time. I'm able to hear the phone, so I can pause the book to take a call. Also, I have the audio book on me so I can go all over the house and not miss what's going on in the story.
One of my favorite books!
I must admit that until I purchased Club Dead I didn't know very much about Charlaine Harris. After reading Club Dead the third book from the SookieStackhouse series I became hooked. Definitely Dead was not only a page turner but an incredible mystery full of depth and humor. I loved every second of this book, so much so that it only took me a day and the half to read. Charlaine Harris has a gift for combining mystery, erotica, and humor. Her understanding and emotional development of the characters makes it easy for (me) the reader to follow along to. The story was so engrossing and fun that I found, I lost myself with each page. I loved Ann Rice tell the day she retired and found it difficult to find another author of her genre that I could really get into until I discovered, Charlaine Harris. I can now say I've found an author with a series of books I can look forward to reading. Reading has never been so fun.
The narrator on this audio book does a great job and keeps the listener engaged and entertained.
awesome awesome awesome
I have all these books and love them all, its just a little weird watching the show and seeing what they are putting in like the book and what theyre changing, but I hope Charlaine keeps Sookie alive and kicking for a long time, the books are so easy and fun to read, you will love them, just remember they are based on the the show, True Blood, and they are alot differnt then the show.
