Works excelent and is comparable to the more expensive Nikon Brand version for half the cost. Definitely worth the money! Did you see my pictures.

Awesome Product

Love this grip. Batteries last forever. Looks very cool and makes it fits my hands better. Balances the camera much better with the bigger telephotos. I had one on my D50 and this one is even better. And you cant beat it coming with two batteries, too!

GREAT BUY!!!

This is a great product. Opteka does not disappoint. If you are leary about the quality compared to the Nikon MB-D80, don't be. I'm 6'6" and have fairly large hands. I really don't care for a camera neck strap, so this helps me hang onto the camera a little better. The vertical trigger and wheels work wonderfully. It also includes a tray for AA batteries if you are in a pinch. The fact that this comes with 2 1700mAh batteries makes it an absolute no-brainer. Highly recommended.

NOT the same as NIKON !!

I purchased the Opteka Battery Grip for my D80 a few days ago and thought I would give out my opinions on the product prior to returning it. I gave it a test run at a baseball game on Sunday.

1. According to the Product Description...

"Opteka is proud to be allowed to use the same factory and mold as Nikon uses for their MB-D80"

NOT TRUE... The Opteka and Nikon Battery Grips ARE NOT the same. I have BOTH of them sitting on my desk in front of me as I write this. They are VERY different.

2. The Opteka is obviously made with a much thinner plastic. It is lighter and feels cheaper.

3. I have very large hands and the Opteka Grip feels very cumbersome when attached to my D80. I handed it to two different female shooters at the game and they handed it right back and said "Its way too big for my hands". I grinned widely then realized they were refering to the camera and grip.

Enough with the Negative... All in all the grip does what it says. I shot a few hundred frames at the game and still had plenty of power to spare. All controls are smooth to operate and seem to be in proper positions. Fit to camera body is good, Its just too wide for everyday use.

I am in sales and preach to my customers, not to got the cheap route, it will only cost you in the end. I should have listened to myself. I purchased the Nikon grip on Monday and so far love it.

This is an okay grip if your on a budget, but as with most of my gear, I recommend waiting until you can afford the REAL DEAL.
