Solid and Useful

I used to keep my MacBook in a Neoprene case, but once purchasing the Macally Protection Shell I have felt safe enough just slipping my MacBook in my backpack. It looks nice, feels good, and has protected my computer from scratches.

The temperature runs 1 degree Fahrenheit higher on average, but the case shields your lap from the heat. Definitely worth it.

Well made and well fit for macbook.

I was looking for a macbook protection shell and was considering one of the hard cases, as my sister has one. Those hard plastic cases were nice looking, but noticing my sister's plastic protection shell, I saw many scratches on it from 2 years use. She has carried her laptop in a bag frequently, with books and stationary.

And then I looked on amazon for reviews on the plastic case. Many users of the plastic shell reported that after taking off the shell they noticed scratches on their macbooks. I did not want that for my macbook.

And so, I went with the Macally protection shell. I read customer reviews that said it did not scratch their macbooks. Additionally, customers reported that the shell fit snugly. When I got mine, it did in fact snap on perfectly without scratching, as the material is a similar texture to leather. The color is vivid as well, just like in the picture.

Okay

Its okay. It does its job fine, but it is not very attractive and adds weight to the computer. The case also adds thickness to the computer, which makes it a little difficult to get it into its travel case. If I were going to buy a similar product in the future, I would spring for something a little nicer.

Very good product for the price

I bought both the red and the black in this product and they are both quite good. Firstly, I think that the associated image doesn't quite capture the beauty of the shell. At first I was a bit concerned that they would look cheap and "plastic-y" based on the price and that the red would have been a bit too loud but all of my fears were put to rest when I did get them. They looked pretty good and the quality of the leather is comparable to that on the seats of a mid-range luxury car; the red was bright enough to be interesting and admirable without being loud and shocking.

The shells are very light yet sturdy, and easy to put on and take off. Some can argue that it should have come with more instructions on how to put it on, but regardless of this, one can figure it out pretty quickly; in the order of 5 to 10 mins. The interior is soft and protects your machine from getting scratched.

Lastly, the addition of the shell to the machine does not seem to make any noticeable changes to the usability and ergonomics of the machine in my experience. The shell does not increase the dimensions of the machine significantly, so your mac should still fit into whatever you were using to get it around. It doesn't appear to make the machine retain heat over extended periods of time; although the machine does get hotter the increase in temperature doesn't appear to be attributed to the shell. If there is any change in this area, it would be that the shell makes the machine less slippery than the actual machine surface and hence less likely to fall out of your hands on those rare occasions when you are awkwardly positioned for some reason and are holding your mac by 2 or 3 fingers.

In all, I have had no complaints with either product to date; so again I say good product.

Perfect fit for my MacBook

Fits perfectly my mac, all the ports remain accessible thanks to the precise molding. Feels very solid once installed, after you snap it on you can forget you have an extra shell. Contrary to what I have read, this version at least allows the video lid to open completely as without the shell. A little pricey but protects the alu chassis which is too delicate for dents and scratches and that costs much much more ! Would buy it again.
