Close-up set

LOVE IT! This set is perfect for close up, macro photos. It takes a little time to focus properly(for me anyway), so i would recommend using them for flowers, and other things that aren't in motion.

Good product if you can't afford a real marco

Overall, this is a good product if you can't afford the real macro lens. My only problem with it is the depth of field - it's very limited. I tried changing the aperture a lot of times, and it did not affect the depth of field (changing the aperture would affect the depth of field on regular lenses). Also, I only tend to use the +10 lens because the other 3 don't seem to make that much of a difference. I would recommend this product for beginners or anyone that just wants to 'try out' macro photography.

Happy with my purchase...

This set is pretty nice and it's a good alternative to an expensive macro lens. Of course, the quality of pictures would be much greater with a dedicated macro lens, but these are a good choice on a low budget. They've been fun to use and I've gotten some pretty good shots using them. Just don't expect miracles.

Useful for Various Kinds of Closeup Photogrphy

Of course expensive closeup lenses are best for closeup photography. But I just cannot afford the best. Fortunately, the Opteka closeup lens set is a reasonable compromise. Most of closeup photo sharpness is achieved by keeping the camera steady and properly focused.

A front element closeup lens set has one thing clearly in its favor: using one, two, or more in tandem, does not reduce the amount of light coming through the lens. That means higher shutter speeds and/or greater depth of field is available. And with a single adapter I am able to use these lenses on several different focal length lenses in my collection. All this gives me lots of options when shooting closeup. I can use telephoto, zoom lenses, and even fish eye lenses with front element lenses.

Most important to this review is that the Opteca lens set produces as sharp an image as any other front elements closeup lenses I have ever tried.

Good pictures

I am just learning how to take macro pictures, and am enjoying this lens. It is easy to put on my camera, so I use it quite a bit.

Cameras fitted with normal lenses do not permit us to move closer than a certain minimum distance from the object being photographed. The Close-Up lens, which is simply mounted in the front of our normal taking lens, permits the taking of close-ups and also makes possible the photography of details which would be quite impossible without using the Close-Up lens. The easy to use solution for getting extra close. These lenses enable you to get much closer than the minimum focus of the standard camera lens - as close as 4 inches from the subject. Ideal for cataloging small items and focusing on details.
