mouse software or Vista?
Very cool device for editing photos on the laptop. Pointer stops pointing periodically, claiming corruption as the cause.
Good accessory
I had a Targus wireless
mouse
before this one. This mouse is way better than the Targus: very responsive, shorter wakeup time, smaller and better battery life.

A Very Portable mouse
I've owned a few wireless mice, but this is by far the best.
The USB cnnector sticks out only about 1/3 of an inch from my computer, while all other mice stick out well over an inch or have a larger USB connector.
To give you an idea how small this USB connector is, I leave it plugged into the side ofmy laptop always, even when I am placing a small brief case.
Plus, this
mouse
comes with a little holder for the USB connector that embedded in the battery compartment. So I could pretty easily stick the USB connector in there if I wasn't so lazy. Point is, it's pretty difficult for the USB transmitter to get lost,w hich for a busy absent-minded nerd like me is a big deal.
The only small negative I've come across is the software for changing commands of each button. The default software set up zooms in and out when you use the track wheel in Excel. Two 15-minute efforts by me to make it stop zooming and scroll and down down when using the trackwheel have so ar been unsuccessful.
Overall, however, this is the bets portable mouse I've seen.

I have a new favorite mouse!
I have a new favorite
mouse

This is NO SMALL MATTER since I have been using the original Microsoft Ballpoint Mouse (a small thumb ball that gets mounted to the side of the keyboard) on all of my computers (home and office) since it first came out. I've gone through a bunch of them using eBay as my source.
There were a few reasons for this. First, my desks are piles of clutter. The Ballpoint Mouse required no real estate to operate. And, most important, it felt so comfortable in my hand.
But my latest computer came with an
laser
optical mouse with scroll wheel. The laser mice require very little room to operate, and I liked the convenience of the scroll wheel.
Even though the VX
nano
is on the smaller size, it's not on the small side. I like the way my hand grabs it. All of the buttons are sensitive, including left-right scroll, so I don't have to use a lot of pressure to click them.
I particularly like the SetPoint software that allows me to configure the buttons in a huge variety of ways. I'm still experimenting to find my favorite setup. I've assigned Ctrl-W to the magnify button behind the scroll wheel; one click and my current Firefox tab closes. The two buttons on the side of the mouse are configured to Universal Scroll and Go To Desktop (Windows-D). Since I rarely have to scroll sideways, I've currently assigned the side scroll motions assigned to Cut and Paste. My only complaint is that I'd love another pair of buttons on the other side!
After purchasing a VX Nano for work, I decided I liked it so much that I got one for home. I'll probably end up getting a spare if I see a good sale.
...I've been thinking about why I like this mouse SOOOOO much... With most mice, you place your hand on them and move them around. That's NOT what I'm doing with the VX Nano. The heel of my hand rest on my desk with my fingers curled and the mouse filling the space between my fingers and the desk. The mouse is very sensitive (this can be adjusted through settings, but out-of-the-box works fine for me) so I can get it to cover its full range of travel over the screen with very slight finger wiggle and movement. The heel of my hand rarely moves.
I particularly like the scroll wheel, which can be switched from smooth scroll to click scroll by pressing down on it, unlike the VX Revolution, which required you to turn it over and throw a switch.
The more I use this mouse, the more I like it!
