Was great, Now Terrible!

I bought this for my daughter, and it was pretty sweet until a couple of months ago (Spring 2008). Then her phone would not connect to make phone calls. We had a replacement policy, so we had the phone replaced, but the replacement phone does the same thing. My older Fusic phone has no problems...what a shame!

Just says "Looking for Service" most of the time which eats up the battery. If you do get to a strong service area, it will connect, but then drop you within a minute or so.

This used to be our best phone, now it is our worst, and with the second phone, I am starting to think Sprint did something to their network and now the phone will not connect. We have tried Roam, Automatic, and Sprint network settings and none of them work.

Great phone, not so great features

So many others have written great things about this phone and it's every detail so I won't go there. I gave it 4 stars for those great reasons, but subtracted one star for 2 reasons. First being a minor issue for me personally, but might be a big problem for someone looking to buy this phone for that feature...the FM transmitter. The phone is capable of it, but has to be inches from your cars antenna for it not to give you a headache from the static. I never use that feature so it doesn't bother me really. The lack of being able to store an address in your contacts list really frustrates me. You can enter a web address, but not a mailing address. I have tried using the memo field...but it doesn't let you enter enough characters for an address. How many friends do you have on your contacts list that actually has their own website?? Probably NONE! USELESS!! I think this is an LG thing because I had the LG Rumor before this phone and it didn't have an address field either. Prior to these phones I have always had either Sanyo or Samsung, which both had address fields. I use my phone to store all of my friends, business partners, etc. contact info so this is a problem for me not being able to input an address. I will be getting a different phone as soon as my contract is up.

Muziq: What I expected

The LG LX-570 Muziq is pretty much what I expected. I've had it for about a month, and so far I like it.

Pros:
*Multitasking ability- though sometimes choppy, it's really useful.
*Music Capabilities- It recognizes a bunch of different music formats (AAC/m4a even)
*Bluetooth- Can transfer basically anything via wireless connection
*Good voice quality
*Surprisingly loud speakerphone- you can play music pretty loud, though it starts to sound crappy
*OK Internet- I don't have a data plan, but I've downloaded a couple of things and it's not too bad
*Sprint TV- Again, no data plan but I hear it's a cool feature
*Comes with a headphones adapter that has a mic and clip on it; haven't used the mic part yet
*Menus aren't hard to navigate, make sense
*Comes with a 64MB flash card
*Good Camera (for a phone)
*Haven't had a single dropped call yet (not so much to do with the phone but...)

Cons:
*Speakerphone voice quality isn't very good
*Battery life could be better, though it's not too bad
*Terrible camera (for a digital camera)
*Some navigation is a tad sluggish
*Music player isn't that great, but it's better than most phones'
*Bulit-in ringtones are crappy IMO
*Bluetooth is rather slow
*Software is PC only
*Doesn't do my homework

Only annoying thing I've found is accidentally bumping the "music button" when closing the phone, it starts playing music, and you can't stop it without opening the phone back up unless you unlock the phone, hold down the music button, and press stop.

It's vibration function isn't as vigorous as other phones; sometimes I don't feel it ringing unless it's in my pocket, right up against my leg.

I think it was worth giving up Verizon to get this phone. My next step it to get a 4GB Flash card and put some music on it.

A successor to the popular Fusic, the LG LX-570 Muziq seamlessly combines all your mobile communication needs with an easily pocketable multimedia powerhouse. It offers a wide assortment of format compatibility for both audio and video, an FM transmitter for playing audio over an FM radio, and personalized streaming radio from Pandora Mobile. And with a dedicated music key and multitasking capability, you can run another application while you listen to music. It operates on Sprint's North American CDMA voice network, as well as on Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network (EV-DO), which enables you to quickly access audio, video and data applications. Other features include a MicroSD memory card slot, 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth stereo streaming, POP3 email support, and full duplex speakerphone.

Dedicated music keys allow easy access to your tunes, as well as enable use of the phones multitasking feature. Supporting the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the Muziq is fully compatible with Sprint's Power Vision service. With Power Vision, you can download and stream high-quality video, straight onto your phone. Enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from brands you know, like CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more. Power Vision also serves as a portal for enhanced games. Where coverage is available, EV-DO connectivity provides average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps, with peak rates up to 2 Mbps.

Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the Muziq all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Offering a growing selection of more than 1.6 million songs, the store provides you two copies of each song--one for the phone and another for the PC, as well as the ability to burn songs to a CD using Windows Media Player. Save your songs to a MicroSD memory card with a capacity that's right for you (it supports capacity up to 4 GB).

Focused on music playback, the LG LX-570 Muziq has a dedicated music controller on the front of the phone that's designed to allow easy access to your music, as well as an easy way to use your multitasking feature to put your music in the background or bring it to the foreground. It supports a wide variety of audio and video formats (MP3, MP4, 3G2, 3GP, AAC, AMR, MID, QCP, 3GPP, PMD, M4V, M4A, KOZ). In addition to personal listening through wired (3.5mm jacks) or wireless (Bluetooth) headphones, the phone also includes a built-in FM transmitter that enables you to transmit tunes wirelessly through any FM radio within 10 feet (with your choice of an open frequency, from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz).

Easily pocketable, the Muziq measures just 0.61 inches thin and weighs 3.14 ounces. Stream music to your phone with Sprint Radio, offering over 30 channels of both music and talk radio--from Hip Hop and Latin Pop to NPR. And with Pandora Mobile, a downloadable application, you can get personalized streaming radio by entering a favorite artist or song and automatically receive a radio station with songs that have similar qualities.

This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, audio/video remote control, and printing. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking (DUN)--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server--using Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network.

The 1.3-megapixel camera shoots still photos in three resolutions (from 320 x 240 to the default 1280 x 960) as well as video clips in two resolutions (default 144 x 176 and 96 x 128). You can shoot video up to 2 hours in length, or a short 20-second clip for sending via video mail. You can manipulate a number of photo settings, including brightness, white balance, color tone. Other features include a self timer and customizable shutter/cue sound. It also provides support for PictBridge technology so you can print your photos without the need of a PC (either using USB or Bluetooth).
