Works perfectly, great price

Lately I've been having to charge my T-Mobile MDA almost constantly to keep any power in the battery. The clerk at the T-Mobile store recommended a new battery; because I use the phone a lot, he specifically suggested an extended battery, like this one.

I started shopping for replacement batteries online (the T-Mobile store doesn't carry them). Most of them ran over $50, so when I saw this one for under $20, I figured it was a gimmick or a refurb. I decided to roll the dice and am thrilled I did.

This battery is amazing. First, it is new, not a refurb. Second, it delivers on performance. I used several battery-intensive apps, such as google maps, live search, media player, and internet explorer for several hours yesterday, and I still had 70% charge by the evening (the old battery would have died quickly). In addition, the old battery would run dead if I didn't charge it every night; last night, I charged to 100% before going to bed, and it was still at 100% this morning (without being connected to a charger over night, of course). I couldn't be happier.

At the same time, the battery has two notable drawbacks, which may or may not be important to people. First, like other extended batteries, this one protrudes out of the back of the phone by a little bit. I didn't measure, but eyeballing, the battery appears to stick out by about 25% of the depth of the phone itself. (As shown in the picture, the battery comes with a new cover that sticks out as well). This doesn't bother me much. The phone still fits in my pocket. However, it no longer fits easily into my carrying case. I can cram it in but fear that might damage the phone. I use the case a lot when listening to music at the gym, so I'm not sure what to do about that.

A second, very minor drawback is that the new battery door doesn't stay in place as well as the original did. When I put on the new battery cover it fell right off. I tracked the problem to the black switch near the bottom right corner of the phone (the battery switch). With the old battery and cover, the switch would slip closed whenever I put the battery back into place. But with this battery/cover, I must manually push the switch closed. Once I did that, the battery and cover stayed in place with no problem, but it was a minor annoyance.

Despite these two drawbacks, I give the battery 5/5 stars for making my phone usable again and delivering exactly what was promised.
