I love this Mouse!

I am very fond of this mouse. It is easy on the hands, good looking and easy to set up. I use it with my MacBook Pro and I am very happy with it. I liked it so much, that I bought one for my daughter.

Works Great for Tablet Mobile Application

I have 2 of these I purchased for a mobile application using a Motion Computing tablet. I needed a trackball because there isn't room to move a mouse. I needed bluetooth because I didn't want to use one of the ports. I also needed something compact to fit in a small space and easy for traveling. The Kensington SlimBlade fit the bill perfectly. Sure it's a small ball, but you can't put a large ball in a compact package. Just be sure to adjust your mouse speed and precision settings to optimize the use of the trackball. By doing that, I've had no problems zeroing in on specific screen items. Turning on "ClickLock" is also very useful if you need to highlight or drag something with the trackball.

I purchased one last fall and another last month. While not perfect, the documentation was clear about how to transition from trackball to mouse, on/off, etc. No problems in getting it up and running. I would have given it 5 stars except that the ball had some sticktion right out of the box. I exercised it for about 30 seconds and voila no more problem. I didn't have that issue with the first one I bought.

This is a great device for my application and I couldn't find anything else on the market with this capability in this size package. I'm very pleased with it. As always, make sure the product fits your application.

Technically excellent, slightly too slim for some hands

This is a great mouse, and has become my preferred travel mouse. The laser optics work on my blonde wood desk, which my older Logitech optical mouse does not, and seems to work well on virtually any surface. The scroller ball is really terrific; it's interesting how quickly this becomes a "necessity" and working with mice that have mere scroll wheels (up/down only, instead of omni-directional) becomes a chore. And the Bluetooth connection works perfectly with my MacBook Pro, coming alive quite quickly, shutting off automatically when not in use.

The only downside is one specific to my hands, which are larger than average. The slim mouse is actually a little small for me to use full-time, and so I still use my Logitech mouse when my laptop is docked at my desk.

If you have normal or (esp.) smaller hands, this won't be an issue, and you'll probably find this mouse to be nearly flawless. If you have large hands, it's still a good mouse, but be prepared to take breaks, or adopt a different grip, or otherwise do something to accommodate the slim profile of this device.

Nimble performer, light on documentation

I got this trackball/mouse to replace the clunky Bluetooth Apple "Mighty Mouse" that came with my iMac. I'm a longtime trackball user, and was quickly troubled by the large arm and hand motions required to make the "Mighty Mouse" move the cursor around the 24" iMac monitor. Another carpal tunnel flareup is too high a price to pay for wireless elegance. I ditched the M Mouse and hooked up my trusty old Microsoft Trackball Explorer.

In hopes of returning to the wireless setup, I bought this gadget. I finally got it set up - but I still find the somewhat cryptic instructions frustrating. The only clue to "mode button functions" is on a sticker that came in the package - and that I've carefully saved. I'm sure I'm not getting the most out of this piece of equipment due to the lack of documentation, but it is a very nimble performer and I'm okay with that for now. Using it as a mouse and not a trackball, it takes minimal hand/wrist motion to move the cursor around the screen - much less than the OEM wireless mouse requires. It's so responsive as a mouse that I usually don't put it into trackball mode.

I've had some issues with the connection being lost but I'm not sure of the cause - the iMac also dropped connection with the Apple wireless keyboard. On those occasions I've hooked up the old Microsoft trackball, and find its response now seems sluggish and awkward compared to the SlimBlade.

Sadly, I just missed a price reduction/rebate, so this little guy was pricey. I also got a wrist support - Wrist Cushion for Mouse - Heather Grey10155 - and so far my hands are happy despite heavy computer use.

TYPICAL KENSINGTON QUALITY PRODUCT

Exactly what you would expect; typical Kensington quality. One hint -- don't drink a lot of cafeine before using the trackball. Because of the ball size, if you have a nervous finger, it is hard to pinpoint. Go into your mouse program and slow down the acceleration. This is the only fault I could find, otherwise it's a 5 star product.

The Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse works where other travel mice can't. The trackball gives you control even when there's no room to move a mouse, then switches to mouse mode with the push of a button. Bluetooth connectivity offers up to 30 feet of range and doesn't use up a USB port.
