Good but could be better

I just bought this thermometer and it seems pretty accurate and fast (one second). It also tells you room temp in the standby mode which is pretty good.

What I did not like:

It does not use standard AAA battery instead it uses some other round kind of battery.
Second thing that can be improved is the carring/storage case which does not look like a case for a thermometer.
Third it comes with a set up where it turns it self off after one minute if not in use. But once you set time in the thermometer then it stays on always. There is no way to switch back to one minute shut-off setting.

Overall I am still very happy with this thermometer.

Cool gadget, if nothing else

I bought this primarily as an ear thermometer for my kids, but it also allegedly is able to sense the temperature of other things just by being pointed at them. This appeals to my inner geek.

It is really well priced and seems to work well though I have yet to use it to actually check for a fever. My only complaint is that the blue 'scan' button at the top of the unit is not a sealed control. It would be nice if it were seamless so that it doesn't give the impression of potentially trapping dirt or admitting moisture. But all-in-all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
