Dancing with the stars vid game review

K I'll start off with the negatives first to get that out of the way.

One of the main issues I have is that there are some celebs missing that shouldn't be, like Kelly Monoco who won season 1 with her pro partner Alec. Why they were missing I dont get, also missing was Drew Lachey now granted Cheryl is in the game with Emmitt but why not have her in the game twice? She did win two times. Also missng was Apollo and Joey Fatone and my fav pro Julianne. I dont buy the whole "the game couldn't be updated in time" because Maks and Laila were included and they were on in the same season as Apollo and Joey yet she came in third, how does that work?

Another flaw in the game is the arrow situation. In order to score well you have to hit as many arrows as possible and get as many "perfect" hits as possible however when dancing the Rumba it is very difficult because you dont get as many arrows to hit so the ones that do come you have to hit them perfectly which is VERY VERY difficult therefore I find myself stuck having to re-dance the rumba over and over again just to advance in the rounds which is annoying. They should have added more bonus points to the rumba's to make it fair.

Last negative I found is the fact that the game doesn't have enough variety. The couples can dance as either amatuers or professionals however the difference is not really that far apart. One couple dancing amatuer who becomes pro still dances the same numbers, same outfit same everything only difference it you have to have a score of 24 or higher to advance in the rounds whereas as an amatuer you need to have a score of 20 or higher. I think they should have made the profesional dances different from the amatuer ones, changed the outfits and really made it different so one doesn't get bored too fast with the game and dancing the same dances over and over again.

Now for the positives...
Great music, love most of the tracks, they really tried to find authentic latin music as opposed to the actual show which uses pop music and tries to pass it off as Latin which it is NOT! Some dances in the game that are supposed to be latin had pop music but not many which made me happy. Another plus is the graphics, dont know why the other person said the graphics were rated at a "C" cause there not. The graphics are wonderful IMO! The outfits are also great.

If you're a dancing with the stars fan GET THIS GAME!

I give it 4 out of 5 stars

Great fun for the whole family

This game was a Christmas present for my kids, and has proven to be a big hit. My 11 year old who dances in a company thought she would be a natural, but has yet to beat her 38 year old dad (what can I say, I got moves). Getting the moves down and improving is part of the whole process, and rewarding as your scores go up. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys having fun with their family or friends and perhaps has a competitive spirit. It will even give you a work out when you compete as a professional. Enjoy.

Fun for all.

The deal on this one could not be passed up. Well worth the money. Fun for all ages.

Fun, but dance pad is clunky

This is a really fun game, it's a heck of a workout, but my only complaint is that the dance pad only works when it wants to, and that's not very often. We used to reach for this game all the time but it's so frustrating to get everything out of the box, hook it up, be all geared up for a dance-off, then the stupid dance pad won't recognize any of your steps. Argh!! For the price, the dance pad should work just like the hand-held controller, every time without fail.

Still trying to catch my breath...

We love DWTS so were so excited to find this game set on Amazon. It came today and we didn't hesitate to bust it out and bust some moves. It was HARD!!! You think of video games being something fun to do for recreation but I'm telling you this game will wear you out! Granted we're relatively new to the whole video game thing and have never played other dancing games. Some of my favorite things about the game are:

1) Original music, just the way it's supposed to sound
2) Dancing couples look so real! Outfits are wonderful! They move so well!
3) Rather than just using generic dancers and judges, they are the real deal...just like on the show.
4) You really do feel like you're stepping into their shoes for a little bit. (and ouch, the judges' criticism DOES hurt!!)
5) If you just get on the pad and make steps, you'll get points. My little 4 year old son just gets on their and hops around and he still gets a score (although we skip the judges' critique for him).

My least favorite thing about this game:

1) The game doesn't seem to always read your steps correctly. Assuming of course you can keep up and actually make them. For instance, let's say it called for a front right step, and you make it perfectly and at just the right time, it might say "Miss". Now let's say it called for a left side step and you make a left back step instead, it might say "Perfect!".

I'm sure I'm just being too particular. The game is fun, it gets you and your children off the couch and lets you laugh at each other without getting in trouble. I recommend it, especially at Amazon's unbeatable price!!

Dance and perform against competition to claim the coveted title as America's favorite celebrity dancer! You'll dance to any one of 36 hit songs and compete in 10 different dance styles, from the Cha-Cha to the Waltz. Play as one of show's celebrities such as Emmit Smith, Mario Lopez, or Stacie Keibler, pair with one of the show's professional dancers, and show the judges you've got the star power. ESRB rated E10 for ages 10 and up.
