A Great Version!

My Man Godfrey is a wonderful little film, and after one previous try, I finally found a complete version with no random parts cut out, AND I didn't have to fork out 40 bucks for the Criterion Collection. Of course that means that the case isn't as good, but it's good enough - come on! :) do you really spend more time looking at the case than at the actual movie?

Of course not, and especially not with a movie like My Man Godfrey. It's truly an American classic. Set against the recovery period of the 1930's, an all-star cast pull off a lighthearted screwball comedy. Anyone familiar with films from the time period, or of slapstick comedies with a rags to riches story will really appreciate My Man Godfrey. William Powell and Carole Lombard, the two leads, are great and probably contributed most to the longevity of the film as a classic.

My Man Godfrey

I love this film - I don't know how many times I have seen this, but each time I see something new that makes me like it even more. It is a classic screwball comedy about a rich man who decides to live as a "Forgotten Man"
(homeless). A scavenger hunt brings this spoiled screwball family into his life. They hire him as a butler. And, well it is hilarious. It has a great cast - William Powell, Carol Lombard, and a various number of some of the great character actors of that time. I would recommend this highly
for anyone who likes to laugh. The starring couple are two of my favorites, so I couldn't help but love it.

Pixies!

I love this movie. It is hilarious and wonderful with a good lesson to learn about our past and possibly our future. I was a bit disappointed in the quality though. Since it is a remastered copy, I thought it should have been much better. But oh, what a movie it is.

In the depths of the Depression, a party game brings dizzy socialite Irene Bullock to the city dump where she meets Godfrey, a derelict, and ends by hiring him as family butler. He finds the Bullocks to be the epitome of idle rich, and nutty as the proverbial fruitcake. Soon, the dramatizing Irene is in love with her 'protege'...who feels strongly that a romance between servant and employer is out of place, regardless of that servant's mysterious past...
