Future FFG
I love this book. Lisa has been in the trenches and knows what being a FG is like. She gives practical advice. The mantras mentioned in her book also are a big help. If you are looking to make a life long change then read this book!!!
A journey to maintenance
My favorite part of this book so far is that it says I am overweight because I just plain like to eat, and share the author's weakness for Tex-Mex! It is not because I have been horribly abused in my childhood - other than being bullied for being chubby. It is not because I am big boned - I was a 2 lb preemie. It discussions the delusions we hold and need to discard and the illusions we need to use and keep in our hand. For example, she advocates eating meals on a salad plate with a salad fork or tea spoon or chopsticks to make the meal look like
more
food and to take slower time eating it. She discusses volumetrics, exercise and what shoes to buy, and recommends helpful websites. Most importantly, she discusses why emotions and the inner critic cause plateaus. I have cerebral palsy and cannot really increase my intensity, just the duration, so dance classes and health clubs and running - as the author recommends - are not for me, personally.
How
ever, I do what I can in the time that I have. I am getting ready to start my lunchtime workout now! My manta is: "It matters to me!" Very inspiring. Thank you, Lisa!

Helpful and inspiring even if you don't have a lot of weigh to lose
I was a
fat
child, teen and twenty-something and then disovered exercise and eating right in my thirties and the weight all came off. I was focused I had my own INO's - 'Just Do It' and 'Don't think about what you want now, think about
how
you'll feel after' but I have allowed job/life stress derail my focus (and subsequently 10 o 50lbs returned). I have been striving to get back to 'that place' where 'I work' and this book reminded me of the things I need to do to get back there and STAY there this time.
This is a good book even if you haven't ever been obese, have just a little weight to
lose
, or even none at all, but just want to live better and feel better - all the tools are here.

FFG and Future FFG Rock!
I am not even finished with this book and have gotten so much out of it. I am a FFG and can use all the help I can get. I do this through reading and self discovery in my new journey of "maintenance." The one tip that has been the most useful for me is "INO" It's NOT an Option! WOW, that is worth 5 stars in itself. Lisa D. creates humor with realistic advice on
how
to loose weight, keep it off and most importantly, be healthy.
The Best Motivational Book for Losing Weight
This book was the absolutely best book I have ever read to motivate a person who wants to
lose
weight. I have been yo-yo dieting for about 40 years now and so you can imagine
how
many books I have read and own on the subject of losing weight. Lisa Delaney hits the nail on the head over and over again about getting to the absolute inner core of why we punish ourselves continuously in order to get to the "perfect weight". I carry her book around with me so I can open it during trying times to remind myself of all the reasons why I don't want to binge. Needless to say, I have highlighted huge sections of this book, so if something doesn't work one minute something else is right there to support me. As I was reading it I kept saying to myself, "This is so amazing--she knows exactly what I need to hear!" I recommend buying this book, not just borrowing it. You only really need this book alone, because we all know we don't need a diet plan--we all know how to diet! We need to know how to deal with the times we aren't eating and really want to. If you need motivation, you need this book and it will help you for your whole life to keep on the happy and healthy path to a normal weight.

"An inspiring account of one woman's mission to
lose
six dress sizes and change her life for good For Lisa Delaney, being a "
fat
girl
" wasn't just a matter of weight, it was a state of mind. At one hundred eighty-five pounds, she was despondent over diets that never worked and disappointed by her dull job and lack of a love life -- until a late-night epiphany involving a half-gallon of ice cream convinced her that becoming a former fat girl, in body and spirit, was the key to creating a life she truly loved. Today, seventy pounds lighter, Lisa is a successful writer at a national magazine. She is married to a man she loves. And she wears a size
two
. Eye-opening, accessible, and filled with practical advice, this book reveals the seven secrets of Delaney's success, and explores
how
shifting from "wannabe Former Fat Girl" to actual Former Fat Girl is as much about seeing yourself as a confident, desirable woman as it is about achieving an ideal weight."
