Much better than most

When it comes to weight scales, the more you spend the more accurate it will be. My previous set of scales purchased for around $35 at the local bargain store fairly consistent albeit off by about 1.5 pounds. This scale remains consistent to what my doctor's office scale says.

The added features of body fat & visceral fat are a nice touch, but one has to understand the way it measures these things is by water content in the body. It's an educated guess at best and can vary widely mainly depending on how hydrated you are when you get on the scale. My wife has a hard time remembering that when she gets on the scale and will see the body fat fluctuate by more than 1.5 percentage points in just 24 hours. If she drinks a lot of water the day before, it will say she has less body fat and more skeletal muscle. In the same way if she is dehydrated, it will say she has more body fat. This is all based ont eh principle that muscle is made up of more water than fat is.

The body age feature is amusing... sometimes funny, sometimes insulting, and sometimes it's just plain useless. The instructions do tell you that it is an overall evaluation of your body rather than really telling you that you're going to live for 100 more years or die tomorrow.

The BMI and BMR features are actually rather useful and I use them everyday to help me in my weight maintenance.

Overall, it's a good scale and I am very happy with it. Just make sure to read the instructions and understand the features.

Very acurate

I have had this product for a month now and love it. It is has performed exactly as the manufacturer discribes. I have been eating right and exercising regularly and the measurements this devise have given reflect the progress I have made. I read some of the reviews before buying this and am glad I decided to purchase it, despite some of the negativity. It has been a great tool for my weight loss and body transformation. I will continue to use it daily and it will continue to help me lose wieght and keep having to buy smaller clothes. I also want to point out that it helps you to realize that losing total weight is not as important as changing the fat to muscle ratio.

Solid Body Monitor

I own a couple other Omron devises and have always found them well-built. This Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor is no exception. It feels solid and doesn't make any noise. The electronic switches have a nice feel. The weight scale is accurate and the other features seem to be but I have nothing to compare them too. The directions and operations are very simple to follow and execute. I can see why some people don't like this unit... it's because truth hurts. I consider myself very healthy and in good physical condition however this unit didn't have the same opinion. I have two choices. 1. Complain, whine and blame Omron. Or. 2. Make myself better. I'm choosing number two.
