Fun fantasy

My granddaughtet and I both enjoyed this series. She's 14 and I'm over 60

Courtesy of Teens Read Too

A horrible plague is transforming light creatures into beings of darkness at Fablehaven.

Seth discovers the source of the problem, but the Sorenson's can't find a way to stop it. With nowhere to turn, the caretakers of Fablehaven must choose between the Sphinx who might be a traitor, and Vanessa, who they've put in the quiet box because she can't be trusted.

In spite of the trouble at Fablehaven, Kendra and other Knights of the Dawn must travel to Lost Mesa (another secret preserve) and try to recover one of the hidden artifacts before The Society of the Evening Star gets their hands on it.

The GRIP OF THE SHADOW PLAGUE shares more detail and insight to the goings on in this series, but doesn't reveal all. New and interesting characters are introduced while still moving forward with stories/subplots of characters introduced in previous novels.

I can't recommend this series highly enough. The world is amazing, the characters are intriguing, and the secrets keep the reader guessing! Mull reveals just enough to placate the reader's curiosity, but still leaves a dangling carrot or two.

I can't wait to learn the SECRETS OF THE DRAGON SANCTUARY!

Third book in great series!

I very much enjoyed this third book in the Fablehaven series. Grandma and Grandpa take the kids to meet the Sphinx in the begining. He tells Kendra she is Fairykind, which is more rare than fairystruck. Kendra is inducted into the Knights of the Dawn and sent, along with protector Warren on a mission in the Lost Mesa preserve in AZ to help recover another of the five artifacts. While she is in Lost Mesa, the shadowplague hits Fablehaven. The group in AZ venture onto the Painted Mesa to find the hidden artifact. Gavin, a dragon tamer, gets them past only to find the artifact was removed and moved to Fablehaven by none other than Patton Burgess, Lena the naiad's husband. After returning to Fablehaven they decide to go to the pond and ask Lena if she knows anything regarding a second artifact. She tells them that it is in a safe that appears at the old manor only one hour a day. After retrieving the artifact, the Chronometer, and pushing the button Patton appears to help the kids battle and solve the mystery of the shadow plague!

This whole series is really entertaining so far. In my opinion it is suitable for all ages! I purchased the kindle edition, however I looked and you can get some nice deals on the first three books in a set on Amazon. They are great. It's very simple kid fantasy novels but Mull adds wit and charm, and put thought behind the plot even though it is a teenage series. Well done.

predictable......but OK

I was going to download this in my kindle2 but i decided to just buy the actual book since its the same price at barnes and nobles as in the kindle online store. i was dissappointed. I feel like i wasted my [...] bucks. it was so predictable and boring that i didnt even finish the book for a couple of weeks.(and im a bookaholic....i usually devour books in a matter of hours....well good exciting books that is). the events unfolded very slowly and by the time it actually kind of got exciting the book ended. i loved the 1st two books but i dont think im going to fifnish the series....:

fablehaven:grip of the shadow plauge

Just got through Fablehaven:Rise of the evening star yesterday and are halfway though this one. The book is thrilling, suspesful, but has a good laugh every once in a while. Go Fablehaven!

"The Fablehaven series is generating buzz as a contender in the fantasy-adventure genre to replace the Harry Potter franchise."
-Hollywood Reporter

"Like Harry Potter, Fablehaven can be read aloud in a family with as much pleasure for grownups as for children."
-Orson Scott Card

Strange things are afoot at Fablehaven. Someone or something has released a plague that transforms beings of light into creatures of darkness. Seth discovers the problem in its infancy, but as the infectious disease spreads, it becomes clear that the preserve cannot hold out for long.

In dire need of help, the Sorensons question where to turn. The Sphinx has always given sound advice-but is he a traitor? Inside the Quiet Box, Vanessa might have information that could lead to a cure-but can she be trusted?

Meanwhile, Kendra and members of the Knights of the Dawn must journey to a distant preserve and retrieve another hidden artifact. Will the Society of the Evening Star recover it first? Will the plague eclipse all light at Fablehaven? Find out in Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague.
