Who Knew Zombies Could Be This Awesome?

To explain the awesomeness of Zombieland, let me explain to you this one scene. Woody Harrelson locks himself in a booth, and cages himself in. A horde of zombies is circling around this booth. Zombies are climbing on the cages, trying to come through the back door and the roof. Woody Harrelson graps two pistols, and starts blasting them away. When he runs out of that round, in slow motion, he spins around, puts the clips in the pistols and starts again in his seemingly futile effort. In any other movie, he would have died. But this isn't any other movie. This is Zombieland, and it's awesome. When Woody Harrelson emmerges victorious from his caged booth, a whole pile of dead zombies in his wake, you cheer, and you get exited, because you just got a crapton of awesome dumped on you. That's Zombieland, and it does what it does VERY well.

What is does suprising well is its characters. Usually the characters are disposable like a blonde having sex in a horror film, but not here. It's still a Zombie movie, but by the end of the film, I felt an emotional attachment to all the characters. I can relate to Columbus. Talahassee, as mentioned before, is awesome. Little Rock is cute. And I'm always a sucker for Emma Stone acting like Emma Stone. Plus, the character interactions are just a joy to watch.

The film also works on a story level. Sure, it's simple and basic, but it's well-told and it gets the job done and the characters where they need to go. The action doesn't dissapoint either, whether it's the "action setpieces," or whether it's the simple things of opening to car door while the car is moving to knock the crap out of a Zombie. As the movie says, enjoy the little things. And that's another thing! The rules and their layout in the movie is just so original, and again, fun. I like how it floats next to characters on screen. It's just a great way to present the movie. Did I also mention that it's funny? The often-talked about cameo completely lives up to the hype, and the movie presents comedy gold spliced in-between everything else to.

Overall, if you like Zombies, go watch this movie. If you hate Zombies, and want to kill them, go watch this movie. There's certainly a good time to be had by all. I just didn't expect I'd have that fun of a time. But boy, did I ever. So nut up, shut up, and get this movie!

ZOMBIELAND on FLIX66

Buckle up! Because it's gonna be a bumpy ride. I'm using Rule #4 in ZOMBIELAND to get this review kicked into gear. This is one of at least thirty-some basic rules that one needs to follow to survive in ZOMBIELAND. Others include: Keeping good cardio, Always double tap (kill your zombie twice for good measure) and Don't be a hero. I would love to get my hands on the full list but these reoccurring rules are just one element that makes ZOMBIELAND stand out from other films in its genre. Whatever that genre may be. Comedy, Horror, Action, Romance, it's got them all but first and foremost it is a comedy.

An outstanding movie, perhaps the best horror comedy of 2009!

It's seems the United States of America was once the land of the free is now the land of the dead, a toxic virus has spread turning people into flesh-eating zombies. Most of the country's population has gone down the toliet into living hell no thanks to the undead, a survivor who calls himself Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has been traveling on the road through this apocalyptic ordeal as he creates his own sets of rules. He meets up with a fellow Texas resident survivor named Tallahasse (Woody Harrelson) who's been surviving as well with a special car and a handful of weapons he can use to exterminate them like bugs, he does searches everywhere for a Twinkie that he desires so much. They also meet two other survivors a kid named Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) and sister Wichita (Emma Stone) as they all head to Los Angeles so they can go to a special zombie-free Amusement park called Playland to have some fun.

Brilliant, thrilling and gory rollercoaster ride of an original and classy horror-comedy action flick. This one is a great zombie film satire even a commentary of society gone wrong when something makes the apocalypse, Woody gave us one of the best performances of his career and there is some gory violence here but shown comically. I'd say it's the best horror-comedy of 2009 and the laughs are fresh as ever, i also love how it shows some innovative scenes like showing the audience what the rules are to survive a zombie apocalypse. I think this movie is a new zombie film sensation and one of the best of the genre around.

This Blu-Ray offers flawless picture with nifty theatrical sound at it's best with great extras such as featurettes, audio commentary, deleted scenes, Visual Effects Progression Scenes, Trailers, A cute zombie short film and a BD exclusive such as Beyond-the-grave

Rule #1 - See Zombieland!

This is a very entertaining and well-acted comedy that just happens to feature a zombie-engulved America. On a somewhat deeper level, it's interesting to watch how Columbus grows from being the isolated person he was during the pre-zombie days (hence, his refusal to even try to get to know the real names of his co-horts), when the world ws full of people, to someone who ends up forming close bonds with others only after there almost no people left.

Rivals "Shaun of the Dead" for title of Greatest Zombie Comedy Ever

Sure - you may quibble that there are not too many entries in this competition, but when it comes to Great Zombie Comedies, it's a pretty short list. "Shaun of the Dead" may have the edge because it came first, but "Zombieland" is a wondrously funny, violent and human send-up of the over-saturated Zombie genre.

Ever since "Scream" burst on the scene, a calling card of a hip movie is to walk the viewer through The Rules. "Zombieland" employs that cliche to great effect when we meet Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), a twenty-something survivor of an unexplained zombie apocalypse - this introduction is found in close proximity to one of the most ingenious sets of opening credits ever devised. Columbus - who could be Jonathan Cera's cousin - was never much of a people-person but now is desperate for human contact. He finds it initially in Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a smash-mouth redneck who loves nothing more than shredding zombie faces. Harrelson has that unique combination of sweetness and menace that makes him one of the most exciting actors in Hollywood - and he can play Southern as convincingly as anyone. Tallahassee's rules are no less fixed than Columbus's, and soon they are bonding over zombie carcasses and the Quest for the Last Twinkie.

Tallahassee and Columbus soon find two attractive, intelligent young women (Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin) whose dedication to self-preservation may be a little extreme but provides some good comic moments. Despite some initial mishaps, the foursome is soon on the road together, seeking salvation in a zombie-infested wasteland.

Thanks to a witty script, some pitch-perfect acting, and one of the most inspired cameos in all of film, "Zombieland" is a true delight. No, this isn't "Casablanca" or anything close to it. But for what it strives to be, it's hard to imagine a better effort. High marks across the board.
