Great Gift for Grandma

My brother got this for my mom for Christmas. She loved this book & got such a kick out of reading from it to her friends & family. I thing she learned quite a bit from this book & loved its humor. The most important thing was learning that she needed to let her children experience parenting on their own & not to always intervene even when she wanted to & to constantly reassure them they are doing a great job. It is my turn to have a baby now & I am glad to have this book in my corner! :) This is a great gift for a grandma!

Great New-Granny Gift

It's very funny. Every first-time grandmother will identify with the author's experiences and thoughts. A perfect gift for a first-time grandmother. However, be aware that the parents of the new baby are not married to each other if that makes a difference in your decision to purchase.

Cute Book

A very cute book and a very quick read---great for those with limited free time. The only negative is a term used referring to the grandmother on the father's side, I believe it was "auxillary grandmother" or something similar. It referred to the mother of the baby's dad as if she was less important than the mother of the baby's mom, and both grandmothers are equally important in that grandchild's life. :)

"The other grandma"

The feelings and thoughts shared in this book were very familiar to me. Being the mother of a son who has a son I could really identify on not being the real grandma. It was funny and all too true.

This delightful guide gives new grandmas clear direction on how to navigate foreign territory. Celebrated columnist Adair Lara advises on how to choose a decent name (Oopsie? Boopsie?). She outlines how to give advice without getting a Dr. Sears guide chucked at the head. She offers wise counsel on how to stay on the parents' good side (hint: don't say anything, ever). Hilarious in its blunt truisms, The Granny Diaries steers around the shoals of grandma sentimentality. And yet, having fallen madly in love with her own grandchildren, Adair affirms that the years after the big G truly are golden.
