Now This Was a Deal!
My Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 Notebook was not shy on disk space with an internal 250 GB
hard
drive
, but with several operating systems to play with, I wanted more. So I went looking. The most I could find was on the WD
750
0BPVT, and at only $111 total, seemed like the buy of all time, so I got it. Fast delivery, and two screws later and the cover off, the old was out and the new in. I installed Ubuntu on it, and it has really worked well. The 250 GB still attaches externally through a USB setup, so I have lost nothing in the process.
PS3 HDD Upgrade!!
Western Digital does it again! I just got a new PS3 Slim 2101a model and replaced its simple 120gb hdd with this massive
750
gb hdd! Works like a charm!
It formatted to start with 620GB FREE of 698 GB / 750GB HDD
The PS3 will format your HDD no matter what your size HDD, but its all good! Game it up! = )
I previously had a great 320GB HDD Western Digital in my PS3 Phat 60GB launch system, which I am still keeping, but I upgraded to the new PS3 Slim and 750GB!!

installation in 2010 MBP w/ 10.6
fit perfectly in both 13" and 17" 2010 MBP laptops. super easy swap.
used carbon copy cloner to clone old
drive
to new drive using external drive enclosure.
verify that the clone works by booting to it on the external drive - all good.
swap new
750
GB into notebook internal position
reboot to internal drive
notebooks don't like it, do not recognize the new internal drive with valid OS installed
scratch head...
boot to another external HD with 10.6 running on it, leaving the new, but unusable drive inside the laptop
run disk utility, run "repair disk" on the unresponsive internal drive -
tada - fixed it
reboot to internal drive. all set.
no need for fresh installation onto this drive.
I'll report back if I have any troubles.

750 GB 2.5 inch 9.5mm internal for non-unibody MacBook Pro 17inch
This 9.5mm internal notebook
drive
fits in the pre-unibody 17" MacBook Pro case with room to spare. I purchased this drive to replace the factory 500 GB Hitachi internal drive. the drive capacity has ample room for multiple partitions. I opted for this over the 12.5mm 1 terabyte drive because various sources indicated that the 12.5mm form factor drives will not fit properly in MacBook Pros, but the 9.5mm drive seems to leave more room than you need. I would be interested to hear of anyone successfully installing a 12.5mm thick internal drive in a MacBook Pro (non-unibody model).
If you are looking for more space on your MacBook Pro, MCE makes optical bay conversion kits that allows you to house a second disc drive in the DVD bay. I currently have the factory 500 GB 7200
RPM
HD in the MCE conversion kit, retrofitted into the DVD bay. With the 500 GB drive and the new
750
GB drive I have roughly 1.25 TB of HD storage.
I partitioned the the 750 GB HD with windows 7 HD managing utility. As long as you have continuous free space on the HD, the Win 7 HD utility will allow you to expand or shrink the partition size. OS X still boots properly from the old 500 GB drive in the DVD bay with the MCE conversion kit. MCE also shipped an external housing for the factory DVD drive that I used to install Windows 7 onto the new 750 GB HD in the primary HD bay.
I am not able to discern a performance drag from the 7200 RPM factory drive. It's not as responsive as the Corsair P128 SSD drive installed previously, but it is more stable.
