I had just returned from a great youth camp (I was helping out) and was looking for a good devotional that could really connect me with Christ. I searched all my bookshelves, but came up short. Then, this book arrived in the mail (I forgot I ordered it!) -- perfect timing. It is really good. I wanted to grow closer to God through prayer, so each day, I spend some time praying first and then read the day's entry. It is unreal how the day's entry seems to speak right to my need so often. This is truly a gem. The entries are short enough for you to read over and over to really meditate and concentrate on them. It is a little weird they are written from "Jesus perspective", but keep in mind this is the author's journal -- which she published, so it's not like a mainstream devotional book. It is completely refreshing and a wonderful resource. The best devotional book I've ever used (and I've used a lot!).
The best devotional book ever! This book was given to me while I was in the hospital. Now, I pass it along to my friends for special occasions.
As I started through the first few pages, I marked a day that particularly spoke to me, meaning to quote it in my review. Flipping through a few pages later, I moved the marker to another page, then again. This book, with the passage written as if it were a direct message from Jesus to the reader, is full of wonderful words for daily living.
Most importantly, the message inside was beautiful and really spoke to my heart. As a side note I'll also like to say that this particular edition is gorgeous in appearance also. Its leather cover, attached ribbon bookmark, and wonderful message make it a great gift idea. Or certainly it would be something worth getting for yourself and having the daily reminder of God's goodness, grace and mercy.

In these trouble days we each have, or know someone close to us who have, problems too big for us to solve. This book daily points us to the GOD of our faith in very personal, everyday language. The load we carry has been lifted one day at a time as we continue to read the short, one page message reminding us WHO is meant to be in charge of our lives.
This book was given to me when I was in the hospital with a DVT. This book is a must for anyone who is on a "tough journey". I'm buying these books to give to others who are very ill, lost a loved one, or just need to know that Jesus Loves them. Reading these little devotionals each day helps me to feel like Jesus is talking directly to me.
JesusCalling is a devotional filled with uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year. After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to "listen" to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but journaling helped her grow closer to God. Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. They are written from Jesus' point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling. It is Sarah's fervent prayer that our Savior may bless readers with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure.
