Essential Mozart: 32 Of His Greatest Masterpieces25 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Neville Marriner, ...

Decca, 2001

Good times
I just cant say enough about this collection. It used to be that you had to spend a fortune to get Mozart's best hits; a few on each album. Now, you can buy them all at once and dirt cheap! very nice

Mozart for Mothers-to-be: Tender Lullabies for Mother and Child28 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Neville Marriner, ...

Philips, 1996

This CD Has Become Very Special To Me
I ordered this early on in my pregnancy, and would play it every night to my unborn baby. I love the music, and she did as well. She'd calm down if she was hyped up, and although I've always loved classical music, because I used it all during my pregnancy, it always reminds of this very special time in my life. I still use it for my daughter, she goes to sleep every night to this music. Works ...

Out Of Africa: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack49 reviews
John Barry

Mca, 1990

Excellent Music
What an excellent cd. The music is beautifully haunting and keeps us very entertained. We had seen the movie a long time ago and recently got a chance to see it again. The composer has created a timeless piece of music that carries the listener to another time and place.

Romance of the Violin77 reviews
Joshua Bell, Giacomo Puccini, ...

Sony, 2003

A beautiful CD by a gifted artist
Joshua Bell is one of the top violinists today and this collection of classical works by various composers was meant to capture the beauty and romance of his instrument. Every piece on this CD is expertly played and interpreted by a master of his instrument with an intimate knowledge of why some passages linger for many concert goers more than a complete work. This recording is a beautiful, ...

Taps (Special Edition)
When an exclusive military school is threatened with demolition by a rapacious real-estate company, the students, headed by Cadet Major Brian Moreland, take drastic action. Utilizing every bit of military know-how at their disposal, the boys take over the school, arm themselves to the teeth, and prepare to do battle against the "invading" developers. General Harlan Bache, the head of the academy, ...

Essential Guitar: 33 Guitar Masterpieces28 reviews
Essential Guitar: 34 Guitar Masterpieces

Decca, 2002

Great
I got this for my mom whose family were from Spain a few generations back. She went last fall and loved it. I heard about the album as a premium on my local Public radio. I had already done my pledge so I got this here. My mom loves it and I liked it so much I burned a copy for myself too. It arrived on time and in perfect condition.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

EMI Classics, 2001

Relaxing Music Suited For Today's Busy Lifestyles
"A vast and tender calm Seems to descend from the sky Lit by the moon This is the exquisite hour" ~ Paul Verlaine ~ The above quote is taken from a poem by 19th Century Fench poet Paul Verlaine titled "La Bonne Chanson No. 6." His words fittingly describe the ambience of this classical album which promises unruffled musical moments just perfect for unwinding and relaxing, or when you're ...

Mozart: Horn Concertos Nos. 1-411 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Neville Marriner, ...

EMI Classics, 2003

Best Tuckwell version!
After years of searching for my favorite version of the Horn concertos I found this one thanks to the recommendation of the penguin guide (they're good for some things y'know). I've heard about a dozen versions and never settled on any of them (even the Brain and the other Tuckwell's). This version should be the best example to Tuckwell's art. He brings out the depth and range of the ...

Amadeus: Original Soundtrack Recording28 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Anonymous, ...

Fantasy, 1992

GREAT music, and GREAT recording
This soundtrack from Amadeus is a joy to listen to. It touches the gorgeous and most notable music of Mozart. Of course The Academy of St. Martin's in the Field can be counted on to be an impeccable recording with the finest interpretation. I love listening over and over as the way this CD is put together keeps your interest with a lot of variety. On the top of my list of all-time favorites.

Rapture: Opera's Most Heavenly Moments17 reviews
Rapture: Opera's Most Heavenly Moments

Deutsche Grammophon, 2002

Opera's Most Heavenly Moments Indeed
I have more experience with other genres of music, but am interested in basically all kinds. I have been collecting CDs for nearly 2 decades but had no Opera in my collection. I did a little research and arrived at a conclusion. If I wanted the most and best Opera music for my money, I had to get this title, which is a double album, and "The Most Famous Opera Duets". Well, the latter was a ...

The Mozart Effect - Music for Moms & Moms-to-be3 reviews
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Harald Nerat, ...

Children's Group, 2000

very helpful
I bought this because the literature says your baby can hear music from within the womb. This helped me through the long tough days at work which in turn was a benefit to my baby.

Bach for Babies: Fun and Games for Budding Brains8 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Barry Rose, ...

Philips, 1999

Bach and Roll!
You can't beat Bach. If classical music is the thing you want for your baby, get this CD. If you are single and have no kids, but classical music is your thing, get this CD. This is fantastic reading music, study music (regardless of what you're studying), and just plain relaxing music. I also highly recommend the CD, BUILD YOUR BABY'S BRAIN 1.

The Mozart Effect Music for Children, Volume 2: Relax, Daydream, & Draw7 reviews
Don Campbell, Mozart

Children's Group, 1997

Soothing for all ages.
I used this CD while elementary students were taking a test. They loved it and so did I. The selections were chosen carefully to be soothing and uplifting. This CD is an excellent way to introduce anyone of any age to Mozart. It can be played in the background while you are working. I listen to it in my counseling office.

Bach: Violin Concertos11 reviews
JS Bach, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, ...

Decca, 2009

Nice performance
Julia Fischer strikes me as the new Anne-Sophie Mutter, and my previous favourite version of these 3 gorgeous concerti was the Mutter one with Salvatore Accardo and the ECO, recorded when Frl. Mutter was about three-and-a-half. So, I played them one against the other - and I'm torn. Both ladies play with precision and flair and joy, and are absolutely ear-ravishing, and in the end, to me there is ...

Vaughan Williams: Fantasies; The Lark Ascending; Five Variants31 reviews
Ralph Vaughan Williams, Neville Marriner, ...

Decca, 1990

Iona Brown was very special
The Iona Brown recording of "Lark" here is famous in Britain and justifiably so. Brown, who died in 2004, grew up in the English countryside and had a deep experience of what Vaughan Williams was trying to capture. The rest of the CD is lush, crisp and wonderful -- the Academy's renowned strings at their early 70s peak. It's an analog recording (1972) and the sound is terrific. I don't think this ...

Beethoven for Babies: Brain Training for Little Ones14 reviews
Ludwig van Beethoven, Neville Marriner, ...

Philips, 1998

Nicest classical CD I have found for my baby (& me)
This is a very pleasant CD to listen to, and I think the quality of the music is excellent. I enjoy listening to this with my 10 month old son, and we also listen to the radio and lots of modern music. I recently purchased 5 of the classical "Baby Einstein" CDs and I consider them to be inferior to this Beethoven for Babies CD. The Baby Einstein are very synthesized sounding and I think they are ...
