I enjoy this type of music. For relaxation, it's great. Great for background music when I'm working.

Bream reigns Supreme
I have listned to this CD over and over since I purchased it several months ago. I must state that this is a great collection of guitar music that few others will be able to duplicate any time soon! Bream has been criticized for a technique that is some-what sloppy and values interpretaion over perfection. I do not hear that anywhere in this recording! Take for example the Bach fugue in A minor! ...

Vivaldi for Relaxation5 reviews
Antonio Vivaldi, John Eliot Gardiner, ...

RCA, 2001

An excellent addition to your collection
I own quite a few of the ".. for relaxtion" CD's, and this is one of my favorites. Mellow strands of Vivaldi are the perfect reading companion, great study music, and provide an excellent conversation background. This soothing compostion of Vivaldi's works is an excellent addition to any collection, as well as a great place to begin one.

Mega-Sampler! This really does have 99 tracks!
Yes, this CD really does have 99 tracks. How do they do it? Each is about a minuet long. Some are longer, some are shorter, but you get the micro-essential moments of the music. If you like burning your own CDs, then this is a great source for intra-track fillers, along the lines of They Might Be Giants' "Apollo 18" album, which has all of those short tracks on the end. The idea is to put ...

Great CD all around!
I got this CD because I am a massage therapist, and refuse to buy those cheesey new agey relaxation CD's.I was finally getting a little tired of the bach cello concertos and a couple of other classical recordings that had been deemed "relaxing",and decided to try this one.It is great!I never seem to get tired of it!I have not had a client that didn't love it.Most even ask what it is because ...

Essential Guitar: 34 Guitar Masterpieces

Decca, 2002

Great
I got this for my mom whose family were from Spain a few generations back. She went last fall and loved it. I heard about the album as a premium on my local Public radio. I had already done my pledge so I got this here. My mom loves it and I liked it so much I burned a copy for myself too. It arrived on time and in perfect condition.

A Great Find!
These are wonderful cds. They include Andres Segovia,Julian Bream, John Williams, Presti/Lagoya and Pepe Romero among other guitarist's. This two cd set has a rare performance of Segovia with the "Symphony Of The Air"performing Boccherini's "Cello Concerto in D". John Williams performing Bach's "Cello Suite In D" at seventeen years old. Also Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya performing Debussy's ...

Peaceful and Beautiful
I have purchased this CD twice, first for myself to listen to during labor and secondly for a friend who has a new, very stressful job. I love the music on this CD, it is wonderfully played and listening it to it during labor was very helpful and uplifting. Now both my daughter and I enjoy listening to it, and during fussy days it calms her down a bit, which is very nice. The music truly ...

RCA Victor Europe, 1993

Villa Lobos/Bream
This has been my favourite CD for a considerable period. A must for anyone who listens to classical music. The concerto is a masterpiece, the use of texture and tone colour by Villa Lobos superb, with some truly excellent woodwind parts. Not to mention the guitar part - treated with the sensitivity and virtuosity of which only Bream is capable, it displays what must be some of the finest ...

Julian Bream Ultimate Guitar Collection12 reviews
Mateo Albeniz, Francis Cutting, ...

RCA, 1999

Not "Ultimate", but Wonderful!
As good a guitarist as Julian Bream is, one must begin by acknowledging that the title of this 2-CD set containing 32 admittedly seminal pieces written for hand-played strings ( primarily, the lute) is a tad hyperbolistic. An "Ultimate" collection of anything would have to be more complete, by definition, than any two CDs can be and, again, it almost goes without saying that no two people are apt ...

Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez; Fantasía para un gentilhombre3 reviews
Joaquin Rodrigo, John Eliot Gardiner, ...

RCA, 2004

A good introduction to a great composer
This CD is a good gift choice to introduce a friend to a wonderful composer; the works on it are full of a deliciously evocative Spanish flair and style. I think anyone who enjoys classical music, particularly anyone who likes music with a strong romantic impulse, will like this CD.

Music of Spain5 reviews
Enrique Granados, Isaac Albeniz

RCA, 1994

Best-ever classical guitar recording?!!
Recorded in 1981, this was the first-ever digital recording by a major classical guitarist, and Julian Bream didn't let the opportunity go to waste. Firstly, Bream's transcriptions of the piano scores are absolutely outstanding - the voicings in Albeniz's Mallorca, to name just one example, are far more logical and musically satisfying than any previous published edition, including Segovia's. ...

The Essential Julian Bream2 reviews
Francisco Tarrega, Heitor Villa-Lobos, ...

RCA, 2008

The performer's choice
I should make clear at the outset that I don't own this (double) album. However, over the years I have accumulated all the recordings in previous manifestations. Since Amazon does not (as I write) list the contents, I give it below. By my computation, the total time is well over two hours. 1) Recuerdos de la Alhambra [Tárrega] 2-4) Studies No. 7, 8 & 12 [Villa-Lobos] 5) Serenata andaluza ...

Bach Guitar Recital5 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach

EMI Classics, 1994

A great recording
Julian Bream is definitely among the best musicians of the 20th century, and his performance is supreme in this recording of Bach's compositions, originally written for the lute (though still debated in the academia) and violin. If you like Bach, this CD will not disappoint you in any way. These pieces are among the most popular for the classical guitarists, and matches the sound of the ...

Masters of the Guitar2 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Gaspar Sanz, ...

Deutsche Grammophon, 2005

Why bother making your own best of play list. It's already here.
Tastefully selected from DG catalog of historic late 20th century classical guitar performances. The selections are well performed, well balanced in selection, and remastered. There are no bum or out of place tracks. 78 minutes of music per disk. Selections by Segovia, Williams, Romero, Bream, Yepes, Fernandez, Sollscher, and Pena.

RCA, 1993

Worth Getting Just For the Granados Spanish Dance Alone
Both Julian Bream and John Williams have been two of my favorites when it comes to classical guitar. Having them together on the same album, playing some of my favorite music is more than a treat; it is pure joy. What I love is the fact that even though both are masters in their own rights, they were able to blend together their individual styles into an ensemble to create a set of moods which ...

Not ultimate- but wonderful, none-the-less
As good a guitarist as Julian Bream is, one must begin by acknowledging that the title of this 2-CD set containing 32 admittedly seminal pieces written for hand-played strings ( primarily, the lute) is a tad hyperbolistic. Together Again/ Julian Bream & John Williams3 reviews
Ferdinando Carulli, Enrique Granados, ...

RCA, 1993

An excellent CD for anyone who loves the classical guitar
This CD is a must have for all lovers of the classical guitar. As is the case of the first album, aptly named "Together", the modern masters of the classical guitar, Bream & Williams, join forces again in order to achieve some spectacular results. The main problem of playing a classical guitar is the genuine lack of material, apart from those (relatively few) pieces which were originally ...

Joaquin Rodrigo: Concierto de aranjuez; Heitor Villa-Lobos: Guitar Concerto; 3 Preludes4 reviews
Joaquin Rodrigo, Heitor Villa-Lobos, ...

RCA, 1991

The definitive Concierto de Aranjuez recording.
Julian Bream, is without a doubt, the "great" classical guitarist since Segovia. Not Williams, not Parkening, not Romero; none of artists come close to Bream's sense of phrasing and timing. Bream's is one of those individuals that only comes around every half-century. This concierto, which is a "litmus" test for guitar, testifies to Bream's magic.

Guitar Sonatas1 review
Julian Bream

Angel Records, 1995

Has it been 10 years ?
This CD recording is Julian Bream's last studio recording (1995), at least as far as we mere guitar mortals know of. And since the maestro has retired from the concert stage in 2002, and has stated on more than one occasion his rather dislike for recording in general. (With the exception of a recent DVD release in which Bream still played amazingly well.) I'm assuming this it folks!! The sound ...
